Actually my first "valuable" vintage purchase some years back. At 37mm they wear very well. Now I only need an extra link for the Guy Freres BOR bracelet I got for it.
The JLC GF bracelets are certainly attractive and bring quite some money these days. But many of E855s came fitted with leather. Mine, with original finish, has no signs of ever having worn a metal bracelet.
Nice snag! Saw that one in "bring a loupe" last week. Usually, that chucks the price into crazy land, but this one was quite reasonable given the condition, and original GF bracelet - those are made from unobtanium lately.
Yep same watch, she's a beauty! I'm super impressed with it--it is in pristine condition and I'm very happy. The seller is a very well known watch collector in the tech world, which made my buying choice that much easier. I've been hunting for a vintage original Memovox in steel for a few months now, and once I saw this I negotiated a price and was able to purchase it.
That's awesome - have fun playing with the alarm! I was driving my family and co-workers nuts with it for a week!
Someone on the JLC watchprosite (which I cannot access for some reason) recreated the ad with the real models:
One thing I've always wondered was how you avoid activating the alarm. Is it better to keep the crown pulled out (is there a seal there?) or to simply not wind the alarm? And I'll attach some photos to keep things moving along Memovox e875 Memovox e861
Always keep the crown seated against the case, for an effective seal and also to avoid catching and damaging the crown/stem because its' sticking out. Simply don't wind the alarm and it will be fine. Every 12 hours as the hour wheel and alarm wheel line up and "activate" the alarm, nothing will happen. BHI Certified Professional Watchmaker
