A friend found this watch in her late uncle's belongings. Does anybody know the reference and date of this watch? The watch runs and the alarm works but it probably have not been serviced for many years. Judging by the case back it was serviced by a pretty ham fisted watch maker. The dial looks rough and the crowns seems to be non original. I have never handled a bumper automatic before, but it feels like something heavy is ratteling around inside. How much would a service cost? And finaly the inevitable how much is it worth? Thank you in advance.
Hard to say what the service price will be since who knows what would need to be replaced. I’d ballpark $600 for service. The dial is pretty rough. I’m guessing $1500-$2000 after service. It would look nicer on a leather strap IMO
Here’s a great article about the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Ref. E-855: https://www.watchprozine.com/jaeger...2-1-jaeger-lecoultre-memovox-e-855/7957458/2/ Watch likely dates from mid-1960’s. Assessment above seem reasonable to me. gatorcpa
