Agreed with the original dial too, in my opinion.
Thank you! I don’t have any good sharp photos, mostly photos from when I first got it and played around with different straps. I think the dial looks great, but I’m absolutely no expert.

That makes me happy. I will keep an open mind to it, Zman makes a good point and I will respect that opinion. May I ask why you do not think it’s a redial? Just curious.
After looking at 1000’s of Constellation dials and owning several myself including a 14381 with crosshair you can spot original dials quite easily. I can see why members thought it was a redial from the original pics but these later ones are much better.

Does patina count?
A little different when it comes to patina, but the font reminds me of my piece 😁 it´s like all components got "damaged" except the text on the dial 😉

Dome Dial Dogleg ref. 167.005 Cal. 551

Have owned this for about a year now, and it is still one of my favorite watches. Was looking for a Pie Pan, but couldn't say no when I found this in a local auction. Still on the hunt for the Pie Pan, but this scratched the itch a little.
I finally have pulled the trigger on a Pie Pan, at least it was sold as such. I posted it last week in "Reviews", but that may have been the wrong place. Would not be the first time I have made such an error. Certainly belongs in this thread. Rather than start up a new thread I figured I would just include it as a comment on my last Connie. It is a ref. 168.004 with a cal. 561 and a 1503 bracelet, I went with this case style because I think it works with my 8.5 inch wrists slightly better. I will soon turn my attention to a Constellation with the higher and sharper edged Pie Pan dial, and original case style. Anyone know what year this would be?

No problem, you are probably right but I did hope it wasn’t a redial. Did notice early on that the text was clear. But what’s a bit confusing is that I’ve seen a few photos of 14381:s with similar patina, and clear text that appears thicker etc (found one on google just now). Maybe also redials of course. I think I noticed one in this thread also. Kind of hoping that they just aged that way for this ref 😉 haha.

It's not a redial at all, very nice watch.
Enjoy!

When you refer to 'original case style' are you referring to the dogleg case?
(The pie pan dial first appeared in lyre lug cases in the 50s)

You have a nice version of the .004.
There is a thread somewhere about this style of 'painted pie pan' and IIRC the conclusion was that on some the outer dial edge is indeed faceted and so is a true pie pan, whereas on others it is a trompe-l'oeil paint effect to replicate a pie pan dial ( you will have to look at the dial in-hand to judge )
They do also come in the sharper-edged 'regular' pie pan dials you refer to.
If you like this style, you could also try the very similar 168.010, which due to the wider lug spacing wears slightly larger than even the .004 (and they also come with pie pan dials)
