Forgive me for double posting - I foolishly didn't see this thread before posting my newest acquisition in a new thread.

Reference 186.005, circa 1966. The text and batons are gold, despite what the photograph implies. I'm fairly sure the case has bee polished but the original crown and buckle are there so I don't think I did too bad for under $1k.

Please show your vintage Constellations.

Would be great to see the variations in a new thread. I'll go first.

Here's my '71. cal. 751

Omega Constellation cal 564 from 1967 that I trust to be a ref 168.018, since I have yet to open it.

I am not sure, whether the crystal is original though.

Looks like a dome dial which would indicate ref. 168.010. The 168.018 would have a flat dial and 19mm lug width. The good fit of the leather strap would also say your watch has a 18mm lug width.

Thank you very much for your input, I appreciate it, the dial is indeed dome. I was speculating that it might be a CD 168.0010, but did not know how to tell them apart.

I think you'd be right with the .010 especially with those hands but the lug width would still be 19mm

You're right. I probably got mixed up on the lug width. Last time I looked at the 168.010 on my hands was 3 years ago.

Your crown is fully exposed so makes it look like an .018
You can't get a new hidden crown but you can get one that is semi-recessed which is less obtrusive
(If you want to change it)
The two on the left are original crowns the one on the right a replacement (all .010s)
Note even the originals aren't fully recessed
The far left is the pink cousin of your YG version

Crowns are easily interchangeable, but you can't easily fit a dome dial into a flat dial watch.

You know what I meant!
but I'll take my beating for being loose with my words :whipped:

and for others' benefit, what I should have, more correctly, said was

To the uninitiated, an expressed crown might make it look like an .018

I like all three... 馃榾

So I understand that my Constellation does not have the correct crown? I was wondering already, as it did not seem to fit the case as it should, see below.

What a lucky coincidence, thanks! I will have to fix that...at least to a certain degree, with a semi-recessed crown, as you you suggested. I assume that crown can be sourced new from Omega?
One last question: Omegas from this period do have the logo molded in the crystal, or else the crystal is not original?
Is it possible to source the right crystal from Omega or only from old stock?

yes you can get a new crown from Omega (or Cousins etc) - it's just a little fatter than it should be and sticks out more
yes it should have the logo in the centre of the crystal
you can get new Omega crystals but I'm told that crystals, for this style, with gold tension rings are hard to come by if your watchmaker doesn't have an Omega account
