Must say the best condition dial I have ever on a vintage watch. Case is also pretty good.

Great specimen 馃憤

I have noticed that Constellations often are in top-notch condition, dial-wise. A combination of high quality dials to begin with, a case with more than decent moisture protection (my 1968 168.005 was tested waterproof by my watchmaker when in for service) and owners cherishing them as premium products/significant gifts are my guess as to why this is. The three 60's Constellations I've had have all had unblemished, gorgeous dials.

The lugs and dial on that last one!

I think that's perhaps the case reference I showed you earlier today, albeit with far better lugs than 'mine':

Especially the 60's sunburst dial connies I've owned were pretty clean.

My 50's Connie not so much (inferior lacquer I understand).

My 1961 SS 551 with red gold furniture. Almost mint apart from a scraped crown and some tiny spots and bubbles.

Is that a Seamaster crown or is it the way the light's falling on it? A lovely watch, whatever.

Well a watchmaker showed me in the omega book they list this crown as one of the replacement options so I'm not too worried about it, I have a couple extra regular ones around I just kind of like this look. My first connie had one of these and was white gold furniture too so I left it.. I may change it one day. I think this might be an old one too so I like it.

This watch is just unreal! My God man it's almost like your cheating! How does such a beautiful peice just sit for 60 years and never get worn? It looks brand new!

I just read in Desmond's essay on crowns that there were even omega constellation ad's of the time period with some constellation pie pan's having the clover seamaster crown? So if even omega had them in their ad's, why is it so conclusive that none could have left the factory like mine? Not that it even matters to me but it seems somewhat inconclusive of a subject? How are you guy's so positive?

Also, I have a nos deoctagonal crown, is there a way to find out if it will fit besides just trying it? I would rather not open my watch unless I have to. Thanks for any help I can get, I'm still learning, this is really my first good watch that is just about perfect except for patina and wear and I'm super excited because it was a VERY LONG AND HARD road to get here and a lot of money to me, it's hard to put into words what this watch means and represents to me, but I'm very proud to own it and have worked very hard to be able to get it. This is my one nice watch... I'm not like some with tons of perfect examples worth fortunes each one! Although I don't hate, and I love it here.. I get jealous at times but love vicariously through a lot of you馃槑馃憤
