Please don't go the "vintage look strap" with your Constellation, it's much too nice for that. Have a look at period advertising and see what style suits the watch
Oh, no... I was thinking about this one.. or one similar. I'm wondering if the Hodinkee is worth that much as I've seen similar for way less.. Any thoughts? http://shop.hodinkee.com/collections/straps/products/smooth-brown-calfskin-watch-strap
Not necessarily, there's plenty old lume that lights up for a few seconds after exposing to bright (UV) light. It's the lume that keeps lit up that you need to worry about.
Yes... This was immediately after being blasted by a 280 lumen flashlight for 20 seconds. The glow is imperceptible after 10seconds..
I have the non-smooth version of that one and it's excellent (they are from JPM, like B&S), very supple and well made. Whether they are 2-5x better than some other brand is really up to you. The only complaint I have is that I don't like that buckle, too bulky, but that's easily fixed.
I use this Hodinkee Black Croc strap for my watch. Very comfortable and looks great. The premium for their straps is worth it. I have several.
Pretty damn expensive for a calfskin strap... for that price I think you could even get the authentic omega strap
Trouble with modern straps on Constellations are that they are padded - it'll look wrong on a vintage watch, so I'd recommend a slimmer model.
New serviced C-connie got wrist time at work today. Cleaned up nicely, crystal polished, and now runs smoothly. Wasn't running at all, and crystal had some ugly scratches, but as I thought there was a nice dial and hands hidden. And the watchmaker got it running after some cleaning and removing one of the caliber fasting screws that was on the run
That is pretty close. This is the closest I've seen to mine http://naligazone.com/index.php/data-watch/omega/caliber-5/cal-551/ck-14900 Same markers but appear to be yellow gold, mine are rose... Not sue if I've posted this pic already. If so, I apologize.
