Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and have been trying to hunt down info through all the threads to get a little better understanding of my father's connie before asking a lot of questions about it. It was his everyday watch for forty years 1954-94. The pics are poor, Samsung Galaxy S3, but here goes. First time ever posting bit of a techno luddite 😀

Was your dad a heavy smoker?

Looks like the movement has been replaced at some point with a 351. I would expect to see a 354.

No, never smoked in his life, that is the dial colour and I am curious about what it was called. Notice where some jeweler has rubbed at the surface around the 7 I assume trying to remove an oxidation spot similar to the one by the 3. General dirt is from me wearing it for 7 weeks in 2011 while mine was in for service.

You have touched on some of the questions that I have, the movement was never replaced that I am aware of and according to the "verified caliber and case ref #s" it should be either 352 or 354 and case should be KO 2782 not 2782 SC as the watch is gold capped.

Gold cap can be sharp too!

Uncommon ref. 2887 with a cal. 505 and a screwback case:

I think you are mistaken in a couple of areas, the dial definitely didn´t start out that colour, it was probably a kind of silvered white/cream/champagne type of colour, much the same as this 2652.

@cicindela was pointing out the patina having all the hallmarks of nicotine and the spots you mention could well be from a cleaning attempt sometime in the past. The oxidation spots are not connected to the nicotine staining, but either way the dial colour is what gives your fathers watch its character.

Wow, I would have thought that if the dial had changed colour for any reason that the cross hairs and lettering would be buried but I do notice that in the V of each numeral marker it is silver coloured and the minute marks are almost invisible. This solves the mystery why I haven't been able to find a picture of another watch with this colour 😀. Thanks so much.
Now to get some answers to other questions about caliber and case back approx. value and same for a '61 gold Ladymatic could you please tell what thread I should be using or start a new one etc. Again, thank you.

I put the value in the low hundreds €/£/$, as it is with the wrong calibre, wrong hands, worn case and heavily patinated dial, it is pretty much a parts watch.

My one and only, humble connie...i only wish her case were 38mm plus, instead of only 34mm...
