Hi folks,

It's been a couple of weeks since I checked the forum out, just thought I would revive this thread now that I picked up a few more black dials from a servicing today...

Two pie-pan constellations (one of which is already pictured above), a Tudor Oyster Prince 34 (c 1955) and a Tissot Seastar (1955)

Very nice set you have there, I actually really like the Tudor, that's the same one Roger Stirling wears in Mad Men isn't it?

here's a taster....😁

Neil, can I give you a tip on American slang? It's either a "teaser" or a "taste". I know our colloquialisms are strange to many despite both our countries speaking English. Maybe it's better if we could say we speak American because it's surely different from the Queen's English. 😜 If you want some really funny mangled phrases I'll post some that Windy has said. Being a Filipino American she can really twist a sentence into a hysterical mess.

Oh, and nice group of properly aged dials. 👍

Hmmm.... In the UK, we have 'taster' menus where you get to sample a wide range of things, which might have been what Neil meant, although that's a bit of a stretch... 😀 For future reference, we speak english here - not sure about you lot 😜 At work, my US based product group couldn't understand why I went beserk when they suggested the two language choices be 'English' and 'English (UK)'

"Taster" is used periodically in the US too. Apparently though, not in "Joisey" 🙄

?? What makes you say that? A 2998-2 would have alpha subdial hands and either a straight chrono seconds or a lolipop.

OK then, I'm settled down now 😁
BTH I found the 1098 with 540 ends fits this like a glove. Yes not a 7912, but what the hey it works and looks old. I have been able to trace the 1098 back as far as 1968, perhaps it could be older or maybe that's the start, old price lists are hard to find.
