Most of us know the best finds is often the dirty ones with the crappy pictures. This one I got on an auction in a lot with an other Omega. Scratched crystal and a little grimy, but obviously in great shape. Crystal wasn't even that bad; the seller wanted to be absolutely honest about the condition so he took the above photo (which was the only bad one). Serviced it, cleaned it up, polished the crystal and ordered a strap from Giuliano:
I'm not sure how well this will fit in as I almost always choose not to polish or refinish a case but it's amazing what a good clean and a new glass does. Before: After:
Took new signed crystal,hands , donor parts esa movement and hours of Cleaning of dial and case. It's a keeper for me.
Haven’t started yet – I’ll let you know! 1928 Ref.17.010 with calibre 59-8D, originally sent to US (as were many of these clocks from about 1930). AJTT describes the hands as ‘skeleton Golden Gate’. WIP (someone thought it was RIP).
