Nice surprise when I opened the caseback on mine, was expecting to find a small movement with spacer.
Sold by Hodinkee... great examples though seems later than 1920s as they described it, maybe late 30s or early 40 based on the square looking U of Universal. Enjoy!
Late to this thread (VERY late…) but figured I would add a photo of my own Universal Geneve pocket chronograph (acquired last year from another OF member), as well as a chrono that was auctioned off by Christie’s this month (Hopefully to someone here?). By the way if any moderators happen to see this post, it would be great to spell out “Universal Geneve” in the title of the thread (instead of just “UG”) to make it more easily searchable/findable.
This turned up just over a week ago. Movement no: 170243 A nice enough 0.800 silver case with a Swiss silver grouse hallmark. I'm not entirely over the moon with the handset so it's probably just as well I've been sitting on this: Movement no: 155639 It's a shame that this has the damaged dial (and I should probably add it to the double-signed thread) as I prefer the roman numerals. This one has a steel case but the handset looks more of a set so I think, everything else being equal, it'll be transferred to the first chronograph when it goes off for service (and may be needed as a source of other parts).
While looking in Sala I found this: After a lot of searching I could find just one example of a GP pocket watch: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/17575085_a-girard-perregaux-chronograph-pocket-watch
Nice one for sale for a zero too much: https://www.marktplaats.nl/v/sierad...m1782142855-prachtig-gouden-heren-zak-horloge
