The speedy was majority purchased by flippers who thought they could make a few quid

You have some sort of research to support this claim, right?

I'd wait for the Speedy 60th's price to double in maybe 3 years, sell it and then get a pre-owned RMLE and SM300 with the cash.

My dilemma has intensified as I picked this up this morning. I wonder if the bracelet would fit an Ed White? Probably not I guess. I think I am going to end up with both at this rate, and just not eat or go out for a few months.

No, lug hole placement is different. The bracelet won't even fit a 2913. Not that you'd want it to, I can't seem to wear my Seamaster 300 on anything but the bracelet for more than a day or so!

Side by side, Speedy on 1970s 1125/617 bracelet. There is a crystal sticker on the Speedy btw.

I have the option. Maybe I will and kick the decision 6 months down the road. Watch this space to see which if either I sell! It is interesting to see how similar to the 2201.50 PO the SM300 feels. It is clear a lot of the inspiration for that watch came from the original SM300.

There’s certainly some DNA in there. I think the speedy and SM can live together nicely. A nice problem to have to solve.

The SM looks great on the strap. All three of the 60ths are incredibly versatile and one reason for owning more than one....

Interesting, is that the Seamaster bracelet or the Speedmaster bracelet?
An intelligent question! This is actually the Seamaster bracelet and end links, though I was under the impression that all 3 were identical. I will check against my Speedy bracelet to see if that is actually true. To be honest, the fit isn't perfect and a little too interference for comfort so YMMV but I got it on (and off) without any marks to either watch or bracelet.

Just checked, the bracelet numbers on SM300 and Speedy are actrually different! The SM (which I fitted) number is STZ006510 with end links marked (poss for historical reasons ) '6'. The Speedmaster LE bracelet code ends 6826 with the same '6' marking on the end link so there is a chance they are different. Not what I expected to be honest.

D'Oh, just noticed the word 'SEA' on the end link opposite the '6' so clearly the bracelets are different. Even weirder then that I got it to fit and Ed White.

Yep, they added the '6' as a historical easter egg, but add "Sea" "Speed" "Rail" as they are slightly different. I'd be interested to see whether the Speedmaster bracelet fits too - but you might have found a fun little loophole 😀

That is enough messing about for one night. Don’t want to push my luck with a slipping spring bar tool so I will let another intrepid explorer check out wherther the Speedmaster or RM bracelets fit. I guess there is a good chance then that one or other of the bracelets could also be persuaded to fit the modern straight lug cases like the FOIS. Like you perhaps, I was under the impression the hole spacing was wrong but if it works on an EW when why not a FOIS...

Have been offered a swap of a Trilogy SM300 for my Trilogy Speedmaster plus a few quid (over double the original retail price difference). Both are full sets in good condition with virtually unworn straps and bracelets. Would you do it and if so, why?

no

Personally, I would go with the Seamaster. It is a thing of beauty and much more dramatic and I wouldn't have always said that against the Speedy but of the two you are comparing, Seamaster wins it for me.

2201.50 looks so much better!

I wouldn't do it. Just because of the modern movement.
Is this statement derived from first hand experience of the new single barrel 8806 movement or is this proof by induction based on your personal experience with the previous Omega co-axial movements...n = 1 8500, n=2 8900...and general lack of faith that they are really addressing the underlying lubrication (and other) technical wear issues you have presented in previous posts.
