Hi folks

Tempted by a nice old Seamaster Professional that is listed in Australia for $3400 (seller is unfortunately firm on the price). Any opinions on this one, please and thanks?

These are the only two photos and the seller is an established second-hand dealer.

Thanks again.

Yes, it’s a shame they won’t budge at all!

I'm sure the market is different in Australia compared to the USA which I based my wise-crack on. Hopefully something will pop up on this forum that catches your eye or another Australian based SMP will come along. Have you been watching facebook marketplace and Craigslist in your area? I have seen plenty of reasonably priced Omegas for sale on those sites in my locale.

Thanks. I have been watching something similar to Craigslist called Gumtree, as well as a handful of second-hand shops’ websites, but it’s been slim pickings for the last couple of months. I will check out the sales section here though too, good suggestion. Thanks.

The seller has now put up more photos. Not sure why I initially thought this waa from 1995, it looks more recent.

I’d rather over pay for a fantastic example that you’ll cherish, than a bargain one that’ll give you cold feet after purchase.

Good point. I also see that these are now routinely above $3000 Aussie dollars on Chrono24 (which I use only to get a rough idea of asking prices). Indeed, this is one I would cherish. It looks very nice to me!

Update: I emailed the shop last night with some questions (like what year it is and what after-sales service they offer), but they told me mid-morning that it had sold at $3400.

Yep this one was mint. Price was slightly over market ($2500 USD) but to be fair it was as close to new as you can get. There will be another one, Keep your eyes open. The 2531.80 is a great Midsize Diver

To be honest 3000 is pretty high for 2531.80. I just bought one and took a long time to buy because most were around 2500 and couldn’t justify buying at that high of price. Keep in mind the one I bought isn’t near mint condition but with a visit to omega it could look near new. That’s my opinion

Thanks for the input, and congrats - yours looks awesome! Good to know these can be bought under $3K AUD. That is actually really encouraging. Hope you enjoy yours.
