I feel like pictures in natural light are needed. The dial could go one of two ways based on the limited pictures we have and that has a huge impact on desirability and value.

From these pictures it doesn't look like there is much lume left on the dial (if any).
Thanks -- not sure if I'm missing something as the lume on the dial from my vantage point looks quite solid. The hands have lost their lume for sure.

Nothing is jumping out at me as a problem from those minimal photos, although the hands and bezel aren't appealing to me. It's a retail price, but not outrageous.
I'd be interested in hearing what about the hands you don't like. Do you think they are replacements? Or is it maybe the difference in patina between hands and dial lume? Thanks.

Not sure what you're referring to? The lume plots on the dial looked in good shape to me. I wish I had more and beyy

Fair enough. I wasn't at liberty to take the item out for a stroll into the open air, alas.

The lume looks nice to me. The lume is darker or missing on the hands and there some to be some wear to them. Easy enough to address or just enjoy it as is.

It's a great looking piece I am sure you will enjoy.

I don’t think the hands have lost their lume, just darker which is very common. While it may not look great in a blown up dial shot, you barely notice it on the wrist. To me it is a positive (showing that the lume is original).

It is just a matter of personal taste, but the dramatic mismatch between the lume on hands and dial is not so appealing to me.

Sure, fair enough. That doesn’t bother me too much, personally.

It would be quite boring if we all liked exactly the same thing. 👍

A few more photos of this watch from the seller. From what I can see, the dial looks clean. I'm guessing there was some polishing of the case, but not much, and the hippocampus is pretty well defined. Still sports the 24-tooth flat foot crown. The seller says the hour marker was just misaligned and has been reset. He has sent me a video showing it running and then being reset and seems to be OK. I'm meeting him this coming week to take another look in person.
Any other observations welcomed!

Always hard to tell from photos, it may have a replacement plexiglass. I do not see an omega symbol in the pictures.

Looks like everything checks out on this watch. The case is soft, most definitely been polished in the past. The movement is cal 861, which is correct. Only thing not visible is the clasp code on the bracelet. I’d be curious to see the date stamp.

A lot here to like, nice DON, 1039 bracelet, correct crown…it all comes down to price. Speedy market for average condition watches is currently soft. I think $9K is a reasonable ask. I’ve seen ‘69’s go for more as of late, without a 1039 and DoN.

I’d try to snap a few pics in direct sunlight to get a better feel for the dial / lume plots.

Good luck.

Good point. Will check this closer in person but I agree not apparent from the photos.

Thanks very much, and excellent suggestion on taking photos in the sunlight. I'll try to do that this week. From the photos I have it feels like the dial might even by verging on dark brown, but that may just be the lighting and my wishful thinking. I'll also check the clasp code to see what the date stamp says. I'm a bit on the fence having laid out a fair amount on another purchase this year but there's a lot I like about this watch.

Get that watch in strong sunlight, I’d say that dial is easily brown or a really nice dark chocolate.

Thanks, I am definitely going to check this out. That would certainly be great if so.

To close things off, after getting a chance to spend more time with the watch I went ahead and made the purchase. The dial shows a rich dark brown shade in sunlight. (Not much sunlight today alas -- serious typhoon warning signal has been raised here in Hong Kong). Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions, which were really helpful.

Sharing a shot of the date stamp on the bracelet.

Congrats!

She’s a looker, wear it in good health and welcome to the club.
