Honestly, I would wear it without caring and then, when I eventually get bored of its flaws, I鈥檇 probably sell it minus the band I鈥檇 keep for my 165024.
It really feels like an honest well worn toolwatch which is in the end what it was intended to be...
You seem to like the watch, and got the seller to reduce the cost by 1K already. You could buy it, sell the bracelet, and put those funds towards a better DON bezel. You can find one for $2k (I did on this forum earlier this year). The watch would look much much better with a nicer bezel, and a Uncle Seiko or Forstner would look very similar to the 1039 for a fraction of the cost. That gets you a watch you like, at a price you're comfortable with and you'll feel great about enhancing it on your own.
