Thoughts on this 145.022 68 Speedy Transitional?

Came across this example and am, against all better financial judgment, wondering whether to add another Speedy to the collection. The dial looks super clean to me, the lume patina is attractive, hands do not look relumed to my eyes, the DON bezel is mostly in good shape and the 1039 bracelet, with 516 endlinks, has plenty of stretch left in it. I believe I can get this for about $9K. Anyone see anything I might be missing? Does this seem like a reasonable deal? The 861 movement also looks very well taken care of, though I don't have a photo to share.

Nothing is jumping out at me as a problem from those minimal photos, although the hands and bezel aren't appealing to me. It's a retail price, but not outrageous.

Add it. Looks all correct from what we can see. Very appealing dial/lume plots. Bezel a bit worn but goes perfectly with the rest of watch. Case maybe unpolished? Including bracelet, price is fair.

To my opinion the dial looks excellent, the rest looks legit, nothing to remarc but you should take in consideration to service the movement. The hand from the hour chrono subdial it looks that is not reseting completly.

This could also be chrono creep, as opposed to a reset problem.

Thanks, and pardon my ignorance - what is the difference between the two?

A reset problem would typically mean that the hand doesn't reset back to the right position. Chrono creep means that the hand moves even when the chronograph is not running. Totally different. Chrono creep happens to be fairly common with vintage Speedmasters because of the movement design. There are some threads about it.

Edit: Extremely detailed explanation here:

Thank you. Will check into this. The dealer is a straight shooter, so I’m hoping he’ll be willing to have the problem fixed either way.

That would be interesting. In my experience, dealers rarely repair watches unless they are selling it as fully serviced with a warranty. Is that the case here? If so, the price is looking better.

Be sure to check the movement serial number and the crown.

We are in Hong Kong and I believe he may have a relationship with one or two reliable watch repair folks in town. If not, then there is someone I can go to.

I don't think it's a big deal anyway. Whatever the issue is, you can just have it fixed at the next service.

Thanks much. The dial and lume plots really caught my eye. Agreed the bezel is a bit worn but feels like reasonable wear and tear for a watch this age. And given the price of bracelets and endlinks these days I have to say that makes the whole package more appealing. I

From these pictures it doesn't look like there is much lume left on the dial (if any).
