This is an educational thread for me since I'm still a newbie and I own a 68 Transitional watch also.

I now notice my watch has a different chronograph hand.
My serial number is 273246xx.
Here is a pic of mine.

According to most experts, your chronograph hand is the style that is in the vast majority of the 68 Transitionals, or, as you noticed in this thread the argument is that it should be the style in all the reference 145.022-68 watches.

You have a wonderful example of the 145.022-68

The watch "spoke" to you and the price was reasonable. I think you did spectacularly!

I'm open to any references you can provide so I no longer have any doubt about the watch moving forward.
Since you decided to be argumentative, I don't feel it will be worthwhile for me to share my knowledge with you. Pointless to further derail this thread.
Look at the hand stack on your watch and try to compare them with let's say 100 other 145.022-68 you can find pictures of on the google machine.
Maybe you'll notice the differences, and maybe not...
Based on the one picture I posted you were able to determine the case has been polished so what is wrong with the hand set now?
Yes. And I have been able to determine a lot more with a lot less. That's why I am very good at what I do.

Picture of the sides, as requested regarding to polishing... And one of the dial with a little sun, the first time we’ve seen it in a week here ^^

Nice.
Looks like the non crown guard side might have been very lightly polished.
This mid case has a unique profile which I have only observed on a very small number of 145.022-68 Transitionals (I believe I only have 2 or 3 in my archive).
It has a more curved profile on the sides and a wider foot-stamp on the bottom (similar to the CB cases).

I will post some pictures of mine later.

And yeah, you won’t find this info in MWO either... 😉

This is as close as I can come to that transition from 321 to 861.

145.012-68 - 26554736
145.022-68 - 26556247

I have put a better bezel on this 145.022; I just don’t have a photo.

The OP watch looks quite appealing overall. It's easy to pick apart watches from high-res photos, but I'll bet it faces up nicely on the wrist. And I wouldn't worry too much about a replaced sweep hand.

I love the lume colour on these 68 Trans Speedys.
These are over 50 year old watches.Does it matter what chrono hand they carry.

@Spacefruit released a small but very practical video review on the 145.022-68 earlier this weekend. Something to enjoy!

I believe and I say I believe that the cal.321 '68s had a teardrop seconds recorder hand and the cal. 861 either hand is correct. Yes?

Now you know why I said: "I believe" as opposed to: "I know". Now I know. Thank you 😀

Hi guys!
The seller whom I stayed in contact and very good terms told me a friend of his has a flat feet crown that would be perfect for my watch :

His friend would like 310€ for it...Is it indeed the correct type and does it seem worth it?

thanks!

based on ebay sales... that's not an unreasonable price.

silly as it may be, i find having the original type crown as an important piece to these classics.

@Dsplash You got yourself a neat little deal on a very rare reference. OF - do we have any sort of idea on how many Transitional 68's could be out there? 60,000 321 movements got split over a wide range of Seamasters and Speedy's, but how many 145.012-like dials with different feet were manufactured to go in these transitionals before the painted logos dials were put in production? Any research/ date/ guessestimates on that?
