Thin watch strap (where to buy one?)

Excited to receive the vintage IWC I bought (head only) from a forum member last week.

Love the watch, but it’s a mite thinner than anything else I’ve owned, at least recently, and I’m finding that the 18mm brown leather strap options in my stash are a bit too thick—they bulge out beyond the lugs. I think the piece would also benefit from a curved-end strap, though just going thinner might do the trick alone.

Anyone have a brand/site you’d recommend for a vintage style, super thin (unbolstered) strap? I’ve started googling around too, of course, but usually learn a lot more from fellow OFers than I do on my own.

Open to plain leather, gator, lizard, ostrich, etc.

Thanks in any case!

Good place to start:

Stitchless, no padding (ie. about 2 mm thick) gator / croc / lizard would work well I think

Matteo is very good. At a lower price point, with decent quality, Tuns also has a good range and does stitchless thin styled straps too.

Artisan Straps in Australia is excellent. If they don’t have something in stock that works, they’ll custom make whatever you want.

Personally, I'd go with a Fluco Horween Shell Cordovan. These are very thin and durable.

I bet Aaron@ combat straps could make something, but a color 8 shell strap would look fantastic on that watch and would be pretty thin.

Many vintage watches didn't measure to the full MM at the lug space.
I've found it best to measure with a caliper.
Is the one on your watch a recent production/handmade?
It looks like it could have been skived (more) to reduce the thickness at the lug so it sat away from the case as it should.
