Ive been looking for months now for a 3592.50 or 3572.50 in the right combination of movement/back/lume As its my first and possibly only Speedmaster (famous last words) the idea of getting one with original box and papers seemed an important part of a used watch purchase for me. From a used perspective it obviously does add value in a number of ways to the item for sale. How important is it to you? Interested in members thoughts on this.
A search of "papers" with the box for SEARCH TITLES ONLY checked turned up these threads: https://omegaforums.net/threads/premium-value-of-box-and-papers-for-145-022-pre-moon.32102/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/how-much-extra-for-box-and-papers.28995/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/value-of-boxes-and-papers-in-resale.25133/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/papers-no-papers.24215/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/how-important-are-boxes-and-papers.19651/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/box-and-papers.10291/ Phew! That was exhausting typing in all those letters and clicking on that box. I gotta go take a nap now.
From what I've read they do matter, add value, but can also be a trap as boxes can be purchased and papers faked. So do your homework and "caveat emptor" which is what I certainly am learning on this site!
If two watches were identical apart from one was in slightly better condition and the other had box and papers. I'd take the first one. Unless they happen to come with a watch I'm looking at, I couldn't care less.
I value B&P at the time I buy a timepiece, and the time I sell a timepiece, and absolutely positively don't care at any other time.
