Something tells me @Robert-Jan might know Oisin, and perhaps be able to mediate any misunderstandings at play here.

Seems more a lack of will to just get the watch shipped on the part of the youtuber, rather than any misunderstanding...

Was attempting only some creation-of-settlement-zone tone, but not surprised an online forum addressing a dispute would be all of the lion and none of the fox

I messaged him on IG asking when he was planning on returning the watch. The response I got was "Who are you and why are you bothering me?"

Seems like a scumbag to me. Never watched his videos before and now I definitely not planning to ever.

are you surprised?

did you actually think such a message was going to achieve anything?

softly-softly, catchy monkey.

I think lions eat foxes...

But really there's only one settlement - get the watch returned as has been promised many times. Not much grey area to this one.

Actually I am surprised.

Being a youtuber means your income is predicated upon your reputation as a channel and the interactions with your audience. If he wasn't so shortsighted in his response and kept the long term ramifications of his behavior at the forefront he could have responded with something along the lines of: "thanks for reaching out! I have contacted the owner of that watch and its being returned shortly."

Responding in the manner he did only further reinforces my perception that he's disingenuous in his responses to the OP regarding returning his watch. Continuing with this behavior can literally ruin everything he has built up to now.

So again yes I am surprised.

And I have no idea what softly-softly, catchy monkey means.

I wonder if he’s so used to being showered with praise and gifts he’s become unaccustomed to returning them occasionally.

The dismissive tone of those emails is arrogant beyond belief.

yeah, there’s a long history proving that putting people on the defensive causes them to instantly see the light and behave as intended

No need to belabor what is become an asylum run by the inmates here, but if you’re reading this and genuinely want OP to receive his watch and materials back then carefully consider whether you’re well-intended actions are more venting than strategic.

Good luck, OP - and hope your posting the ID of this guy for the horde doesn’t become too counterproductive

No offense, but was this response really necessary? The guy goes to bat for the victim and your response is to criticize him for his effort in a public post? Perhaps someone needs to work on their people skills?

Wow, really sorry to read this! Seems a public shaming, which might hurt his income, is sadly the only thing that might make him get off his behind and do the right thing.

perhaps multiple complaints to YouTube about TTWC for not returning the watch to its rightful owner ? If enough of us write to them they will at least ask TTWC what's going on.

When you lend someone your stuff and at some point ask for your stuff back, the person with the stuff should make every reasonable effort to return your stuff asap. It's really not any more nuanced than that. I mean, it's your stuff. (Apologies to George Carlin)

Clearly being patient and asking hasn't gotten the result the OP wanted or deserves. Your suggestion of getting another youtuber involved may work, but going on the assumption that RJ "may" know this guy personally, and "may" have some influence on him, seems like a shot in the dark at best.

If your income relies on people watching your videos (your popularity) then a public pressure campaign is likely the best way to get results.

I think it was deeply irresponsible and counterproductive for Greek to take that approach, which should be completely obvious to anyone with an iota or sense or experience in handling such disputes - and if you for a moment feel inclined to disagree outloud, just look at how it’s proven and evidenced by the YouTuber’s completely predictable response.

So yeah, if he or others don’t repeat such a counterproductive mistake, I do think it’s worth stating.

But carry on with your pitchforks and torches, I hope you’re successful!

Good response. What a class act. Instead of deflecting and blaming everyone except yourself, try manning up and admitting when you’re wrong. You owe him an apology which I am confident will not be forthcoming.

I just hope he sends my watch back, I don't want to name him or the place he is living as it will "out him" and I'm not about that, but I can say goodbye to it being on his channel now.
Maybe not outing him here but immediately with the authorities. Don’t feel guilty but act swiftly.

well just got a string of emails...start at the bottom and work your way up.

From Oisin
I want a full apology from this animal friend of yours.

I want a full apology.
This has been the worst thing you could have done.
The worst.
I was bullied heavily as a child and because of that, make sure to always confront bullies head on.
I will not tolerate it.
I have no intention of keeping anything that isn’t mine and never did.
It was simply trying to find the time to promote your damned watch!

I’m just explaining why I need to travel to another town to ship your watch to you. So you can avoid these fees. It’s not to accommodate me but to accommodate you!
You’re well aware I just went through a move of apartment and all my stuff was boxed up.
I have no intention of keeping your property and never did. It was just hard to find the time to make the right video about the watch.
Now I’m being harassed by some friends of yours.
Th EXACT thing you should not let happen.
I don’t respond to threats and harassment well.

THIS WAS MY REPLY TO HIS EMAIL REGARDING £800 IN FEES
