I IM0L4Hey guys
I don’t know Oisin personally but I am familiar with his content over the last year or two and I have to say reading this I feel an increasing level of discomfort.
There seems to be a level of aggression maybe even vindictiveness in some of the posts almost like some posters feel they want to destroy another member of the watch community almost reminiscent of what happened to the timepiece gentleman.
I am no expert in psychology or human behaviour but I feel I can see a man struggling through some
hard times at the moment, whether as a result of bad luck or self destructive behaviours I cannot possibly know.
I see the obvious downgrade in living quarters that is not a good sign for anybody and likely reflects a change in financial position or income for the worst.
Then there was talk of selling watches and one can surmise there might be significant unavoidable debts owing or other misfortunes such as unforeseen significant legal costs or tax demands the like of these things can weigh a major toll on a persons mental health and well-being.
At the same time I see a major increase in the amount of time spent online in live chats going for hours at a time often into the morning hours including indiscreet heavy alcohol consumption.
I think I also saw aggressive boorish drunken somewhat abusive possibly bigoted behaviour on a live cast with other watch community members.
All of these things suggested to me I was witnessing a man struggling with demons and possibly on a downward spiral not something I enjoy seeing. I see some signs of depression as well which are warning of potential
consequences should a viable path forward not be found.
Now I hear stories about monies being owed to others in the watch community and borrowed watches all remaining outstanding and when challenged his responses seem to include denial and lashing out at others. Once again these behaviours suggest a man that is struggling and perhaps not equipped to handle the situation gracefully with the honour and humility one might expect.
I also feel that on an Omega forum members should conduct themselves respectfully and many are but there would seem to be a few exceptions with somewhat extreme statements being made and I feel these at times are at odds with the values of an esteemed brand like Omega so I would respectfully ask these posters to tone down their messaging.
English not being my first language please forgive me if I misuse the phrase but it seems to me that ‘piling on’ is pushing the man into a dark corner and is most likely counter productive?
I am not wanting to apologise for any misdemeanours clearly it would seem some pieces need to be returned ASAP and I assume also some monies paid or binding arrangements to be made to pay back monies over time should the full amounts not be available right now.
What I am getting to is despite the obvious passive aggressive behaviours being displayed it seems to me the type of case where the individual may be in some denial and could really benefit from friend(s) offering some support and guidance to help them find a new footing and then help with putting some robust pragmatic logistics in place to right the wrongs.
These might be the community helping to fund a paid courier pickup of the outstanding pieces and guidance on how to negotiate a feasible payment
plan for any outstanding monies.
I would hate to see the public pressure increasing to the point where some of the self destructive behaviours I’ve mentioned escalate into long lasting damage.
Please don’t over react to me I’m not wanting to attack anybody here I just feel we could work together to understand problems often run deeper than they seem on the surface and can we ask ourselves are there ways we can help for the mutual benefit of all the parties to resolve things so there are no winners or losers just a restoration of our usually tight knit community where people care for each other and what is right centred around our common interest in quality timepieces and the heritage of enduring human values they represent.
I like Oisin and the many gifts he has shared born from his undeniable talents but I recognise he is flawed like any man but I don’t want to see anybody succumb to bad decisions made under duress either.
Oisin if you are reading this thread please work with us to de-escalate and restore our common friendship.
I know it’s hard to admit our mistakes publicly but it’s often the right way to turn things around restore trust and set a path forward where we all feel right about each other as a community.
Best,
Marco

I'm one for giving the benefit of the doubt, but sending out the Gruen instead of grandstanding on a live stream would have gone a long way. Less talk, more shipments of "borrowed" watches. It's simple.
It's the "potentially" that bothers me. Oisin needs a proper trial. Innocent until proven guilty, made me think of the film 12 Angry Men. I don't know. What if one day we're too quick to condemn an innocent guy.
Not defending Oisin because he clearly made some bad decisions to say the least but seeing the speed at which cancel culture operates on social platforms, that's scary stuff to witness too.
