The C-Cased Constellation Thread

I’ve recently purchased a SS C-case. It wasn’t easy and I had to look for several months. My experience is that they are in the $1k range for a decent example, and I’d think gold would be $2k range with a bracelet. I was lucky to find a GC pie pan Connie on bracelet for my wife here in US last year for a bit over $2k. Unfortunately these watches just aren’t as abundant as they once were. Maybe the secret is out.

Thank you @Peemacgee, will look for that. What would you say is a reasonable price considering the recent rise in prices?
I’m not up on current C case prices - @kaplan had a much better idea if he is keeping his finger on the international pulse.

On the suggestion of @Bill Sohne how about we have a thread on these under appreciated, Gerald Genta designed chronometers?

I’ll kick things off!

I picked up this 168.029 with a cal. 751 inside, out of an auction last year, took it to STS for a service, and some links, wore it a handful of times, and then needed funds to pay for boring things, so off it went to live with @Tiger8888.

I kinda regretted this, but nerds must.

This week I picked up this 168.017 from a couple of fuzzy eBay pictures.

I called in to see Tony at STS today, and am pleased to report that it contained a dirty, if untouched cal. 564.

It’s booked in for a full service, and gentle case refinish to bring it back to tip-top shape.

So those are mine (for now) - let’s see what you’ve got ladies and gents!
That 168.017 dial will look absolutely wonderful after changing or polishing the crystal. So it's my favourite among those.

I have never been a fan of much info on dial, so the day/date complication is too much for my liking.

For those in US - I think this is an unsold gem - since I am used to old prices - the price is slightly high for me, but I think below the market for what it is - which is a rare dial - same design of the gilt and matte black C-Case's - lumed indices

https://www.ebay.com/itm/178054216524

And looking closely, I remembered why it was likely unsold - that Casio buckle cover likely held everyone off and keeps doing so, protecting this watch and keeping it in market- but shouldn't be too hard to find a compatible cover - I know I have some, likely most Omega collectors do

Hi ! It may or not be an opportunity, and I do not want to contradict our C-shape specialist ..😉 but are the edges of the case not a bit too soft, same for the lugs .. ? just a feeling ..

Gold is soft, but it looked like an honest watch to me, someone definitely wore it. Slight chance it looks better in person, hard to photograph gold

If that one is a picture of your watch, it's perfect already
But do you have that set hands available?

I think I caught the cheapest ever C-Case sold - at least in record - just $25 😀

My machine learning script caught it but I was eating lunch so I missed the email 😁

I’ve always been tempted by the milled bezel version 👌

The bezel on these is white gold but has slight yellow tint so it looks a bit 2 tone with SS case.
Here’s my other one same effect

By the way each bezel has a unique size - and GC / SS bezels wildly different sizes - so unless someone shims it in place, no way to swap bezels - GC bezels are much thinner - with this said, I'm convinced some SS cases have actual yellow gold bezels, not shade, but yellow yellow

There was even one in a US market a while back that also came with a matching 2 color bracelet

Here is my GC I think the bezel does look thinner. I hadn’t noticed that before.

New to the forums: here is my recently acquired 168.029. Came with original 1040 bracelet with 518 end links. Bracelet was a little snug (didn't have any removable links), so I ordered a 1040 JB Champion Bracelet from ebay. It only had 1 removable link, so I'm still feeling a little snug and looking for more. On the other hand, I have a 1040 JB Champion Bracelet I can offload (though it only has 1 end link - of the 593 variety). If you all have suggestions for the best place to pick up a link or two, please let me know!
