After enjoying 51 pages of this thread and being converted to C-Case goodness I took the plunge today. Just won this on Ebay (with help from the recommendations thread). Looking forward to getting it in my hands and then tidied up!

Edit: sellers pics btw

Yes agreed. I like the day+date too, I know that’s too busy for some.

Generally I don't like daydates so much but C-cases are an exception to the rule.
So much that I would buy one with it.

Thank you for the tip! There was a nice calendar day 168.016 on Ebay I missed recently. Agree they suit the C-Case particularly well. I guess it’s a pain to set the day? From laziness and for clean lines I do like no date watches.

You can always buy a unique day disk and get the wheel that turns the date removed to set it to something specific

Some ideas: https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/documents/other/abbreviation-names-days-calendarised-blisters_en.pdf

For example "VR" is cool for someone who likes or works on Virtual Reality etc.

Nice idea but I’m way too uptight to do that! 😁

No pain. It's sublime.

I was browsing some auctions (as you do) and they know that I look at a lot of c-cases that this one was shown to me.

What caught my eye was the date window (sorry calendar window) and it got me wondering, has anyone seen a date window on a non day/date(calendar) c-case that was not the faceted window on a 550 series movement c-case?

I know the 1011 and 1021 cal c-cases have non faceted date windows but they have sharp corners. So this particular dial configuration has me a little confused.

Figured this one was a good question for the hive mind.

Have you seen pictures of this dial from other angles? It looks to me that this picture just might be a little confusing with the lighting... I can almost see the facets in it so maybe they actually are there.

I have been searching and cannot find an answer to this, but does anyone know when the blue dial was introduced to the Constellation "C"? Is it the year when Constellation was made, or sometime in the 70s? Blue dials are harder to find, but I see more blue in the 70s. Thank you!

I’d speculate it’s on 1967 with a 168.017 at the top of my head, 1966 was all vintage and they went crazy after 1967

Hi Connie community!

I hope I'm in the right place for some advice: Having turned my eye from vintage Seamasters to Constellations, I am now looking at two C-cases ref.'s 168.019/029, cal. 752/751, and I would be very interested in your thoughts. Both are gold-capped, #2 also includes the "knurled" fluted bezel and is double-signed "Meister" (Zurich shop). Prices are 650$ / 750$. Here are three pictures for each of them:

#1 168.019

#2 168.029

Both are reported running ok (but no specifics on accuracy). Dials look original to me (MOY seems to be ok) and #2 is particularly well preserved and probably restored. But #1's position of "SWISS MADE" appears to be slightly odd because it overlaps with the the 6 o'clock index? #2 has the double "T" and has also been relumed.

Case #1 is maybe a bit sharper (but would you even polish a gold-cap?). And #2 has a wrong 20mm strap (with Omega buckle, but not sure it's genuine).

Do you have any opinions about the movements (I know, pictures aren't great)? Could there even be a part missing ("gib") in the middle of #2? I am still finding my way into the (Omega) vintage world so your advice would be much appreciated!

On a purely aesthetic basis #2, and the prices seem okay on both

2 might have been re lumed but I still think it looks like quite a nice example. Looks like the rotor gib is in there to me, just reflection effects.

Can't tell if the indexes have gotten a bit tarnished on 1, but the hands look like lume may have fallen out.

Both seem quite reasonably priced to me.
