Finally joined the club. The grey dial really shines in the sun and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Big shout out to @kaplan for helping me out on this one.

These are real growers.
I feel if you get the wrong one they can look a little cheap but if you see a nice conditioned one, grey dial for example they look fantastic. Thanks all for sharing, possibly one I hadn’t considered but might give a go.

Thanks! It did come slightly polished but nothing too crazy.

I've been thinking if I should have my connie c case polished slightly, i mean, I wanted something that will resemble an almost NOS case but without losing the sharpness on the edges, I guess it can be done if it will be done well by a very well trained professional, NOS like but not obvious that it was polished or refinished

If you're wearing it, there's no point in doing so, you'll just wear the case down, but it makes sense for a purely collection watch, if it's restorative

I've been thinking of getting scratches casebacks restored, it costs $50 ish with laser welding, haven't asked a quote for an upper case yet, I guess it'll make more sense to just buy a donor instead

Maybe it's me being unobservant in the past, but is this vertically-brushed dial a pretty uncommon variant?

This is very uncommon, but likely a service dial - I was actively seeking one until Archer indicated it's likely an all service dial

Maybe Omega made the "C" intentionally long to differentiate it from original vintage dials - I still want one, but not enough to pay around 1K

There's also a similar sunburst dial for 168.029 - same long "C"

I see the vertical brushing a lot on the 1011 and 1021 movement variants, in fact I have been struggling to find something else in those references...

What do people think of this?
I like it, and the price (if your territory is getting shipping+insurance thrown in). You may want to ask them why specifically they are classifying this as "Fair" - it seems a bit better in the photos. I note they say it is running at +24s/d, so service would be in order.

Interestingly, it’s also on offer on eBay but at a higher price. It’s normally higher on Chrono24 and less expensive on eBay.

A number of people on OF have bought from Closer and he has a good reputation. I’ve also bought from him and with me he has been happy to refund if there’s been a problem with a watch. He’s also quick to answer emails.

Bear in mind that you will have to pay import duty, depending on where you are and this is generally arranged by the shippers.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm going to take a punt on this one I think, I've been looking for something like this at a reasonable price for a while (I love that dial finish).

Yup, free shipping to UK but I'll have to pay for taxes and a service, as per usual..

Closer has quite a few nice looking watches marked as "Fair", so I guess he just prefers not to disappoint, and it seems to be a pretty high-volume business.

Hit the "buy" button last night on Chrono24 but it's still marked as "seller revieweing order" and appearing as still available, which makes me a little nervous. If anyone on here pipped me at the post you'd best not post it here or I'll recognise it, ha ha 😁😁

Absolutely love the c cases. Anyone with a 6.5” wrist have one? I’m really wanting to know how it would look on my wrist. Cheers

I have a wrist of about the size. I have a couple of 168.027 and a 38.5 diameter electronic
