good luck with that. Better do not use cheap tools. You will regret sooner than later 🤪

Sharing my twin - you see, a strap does not look too bad 😎
Bello! I would put a green strap on this grey dial

New to me, my 1966-1968 Constellation 168.017 gold cap over stainless steel. Just back from the spa, where she received a full service, with the only replacement parts being a new case back gasket and mainspring. All other parts, are as found. My watchmaker (Kelly Hunter, www.artofthewatch.com) is confident that he was the first to open her up and certainly the first to service.

Simply put, she is a spectacular example, and just about perfect - now if I can only work up the gumption to wear her as she's still on the original strap!

And a shout out to a distinguished forum member that gave me some pre-post feedback on this reference, very much appreciated. Now to the pics!
OK. Now I’m officially jonesing. For real, like. Best kept secret be damned 😉. I agree these flew under the radar for many (including me), yet it seems they’re like a great record: grows on you until you can’t get it out of your head.

A beautiful specimen.

Thank you! She is something special, truly a time capsule and a window into the past.

That said, I still have yet to wear her! I dutifully wind and appreciate, but just haven't been able to get her on the wrist for more than a quick trying on "for size"...

I guess I am just used to the vintage members of my rotation having a bit more wear and patina ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Totally understand being hesitant to wear that beauty - I’d be the same way - which is why it’s so easy for me to tell you to wear it! At least at home in quarantine for a few days and post pics of that incredible piece on the wrist!

Here is my new to me (thanks to this thread that led me to my hunt) 168.029 currently on 1040 but pondering leather straps, it is my current favorite daily wearer 😁. Also pleased to say we managed to keep this on in the OF family thanks to a kind member helping me with my hunt.

Trying find also a good example of those (preferably the grey dial or "linen" dial or "Spiderweb") with a WG bezel and the original bracelet (not leather) and also cal 564. Want too much right? 😀

Iam open to offers if anyone wants to sell his 😀

thanks

P.S I think I should stop reading threads like this and be addicted 😀

Awesome watch, Dave! Saw your quest for one on the other thread - glad it worked out for you.

I got a couple of lizard straps for my C-case. They look great and will be what I use for smarter wear, but I’m addicted to the Milanese bracelet at the moment!

Thanks very much - I saw your comments and appreciated the input re text & price! It was one of my faster hunts which is always nice, and a justifiable tread during lockdown 😀

Lizard straps look nice, will check some out, thanks for sharing. My strap collection is rapidly growing!

Couldn’t agree more! You inspired my choice, though the grey Perlon you had on your grey C-case looked nearly as good.

Opened up my watch. It's also keep damn near, if not perfect time. Put it on a leather strap but not sure I like it.

These things are so subjective, but I think the contrast stitching and general sporty vibe of that strap doesn’t suit the watch IMHO.

Connies are on the smarter side and a decent quality plain strap might suit it better. Great that she’s keeping such good time, though!

I agree with you for sure. Not sold on it at all. At least I have two or three other watches that are 19mm

I have a general question about the linen dials. Last year I bought a Constellation on a really nice price as the seller tough that it was not working. It has a problem with the seconds hand that makes it look as isn’t running but works and keeps good time. Any way, it was really dirty and after I cleaned it looks really nice but on the bottom of the dial it doesn’t say Swiss Made. I took it to the Boutique and they said that the dial looks original but they really couldn’t tell me why it’s missing the wording at the bottom. Any ideas why is it missing?

My bet: It is a redial. Font looks too thick and doesn't pass MOY (Google "moy omega constellation" if you need to know more). Other faults of fonts could be caused by distortion or bad picture quality.

So the real problem of the watch is not the non-moving seconds hand, to me.
