I don't have a cat. Can I use my dog?

That statement, mixed with your profile picture is chefs-kiss.

That said, that IS a particularly fluffy-boy, so I'll allow it.

(Hit 200 posts)

His point is that once you hit 200 posts you gain rights to sell that POS watch on here. Might be the best outcome since you seem determined to let it ruin your day. You gain nothing by moaning on here by the way, there is zero link to the Omega organisation.

Yeah, this is why I don't post here as often as I was -- the opinion train hits hard when someone doesn't like what you said and then it's a huge pile on by the bigger names on the forum which then gives everyone the "right" to start shitting on the guy. Some of the responses and reacts are uncalled for and pretty childish.

Actually, I've come to expect nothing less from many of you.

The dude worked himself up into a frenzy all on his own. A couple of times.

People tried to help him and he just didn't like the answers cause they weren't what he wanted to hear.

Though I'll admit, when he got snippy about being off-topic I gleefully nudged him further.

Yeah, I tried my best to be helpful/give context/help calm him down. Instead h e went off and started attacking folks. So when off-topic stuff started annoying him, I had no problem needling 😀

Sweet geezuz. The OP managed 81 posts of off the rails Omega bashing in this thread. :whipped:. So much that my watch stopped twice….🤪

Being unhappy with a purchase is fine, we’re not the PR department but when it’s just circular for pages and going nowhere it becomes a little pointless.

When that pointlessness starts to spill out into other threads as well, then it’s a spam problem. The thread can continue if there’s actual updates or resolution whether it be him getting his watch back working or selling it for something else but the flogging a dead horse gets boring.

Miranda's Speedmaster still works. Maybe she got lucky. I'm sorry I was late to post this, I may have helped calm things down lol.

OP didn't understand that we do this when it gets out of hand and he can't take a joke.

Miranda: my problem with the speedmaster is that they don't offer calico subdials

What I really like about this forum is just how we interact with people who come here like the OP did: primarily helpful at first, then patient but with a tinge of exasperation, and when that doesn't work, some amused off-topic enters the picture.

Oh, 100%. I tend to prefer this forum vs the other watch forums because of it. Certain others tend to get nasty (or even start that way!), this one just kinda gets goofy/troll-ish. Its all in good fun 😀

@ErichKeane @ErichPryde ha, yeah, exactly, point made.

Erric- I really don't make your point, though. This is honestly an incredible corner of the internet where people will get behind and support their own when they are in need. Our donations to Alex's recovery fund- which INCREDIBLY just exceeded 10k from such a small group of people- is, for me, a testament to how awesome this forum is.

Does the forum have a culture of ribbing new members that come in with a childish, antagonistic attitude? Yes, yes it does, and it's honestly not a bad cultural element to have. People like OP either wise up and become contributing members, or they move on. As far as community selective processes go it is both effective and fairly free of name-calling. And while it isn't free from mistakes, they're typically a lot easier to resolve than the outright hatred and name-calling that is so common to most corners of the internet these days.

For a community that came together almost entirely based around the collection of expensive and almost entirely unnecessary watches, the bad really isn't that bad. And the good is great. I think that's amazing.

The OP called Scarecrow Boat a 'salt rubber'. Can someone help me with this term? I assume it's a British term?

I kinda took it as rubbing salt in the wound, rubbing salt against rubber doesn't sound very fun tbh (as in: the action of rubbing salt makes one a salt rubber, as opposed to a rubber (compound) made of salt (which makes little sense but it's kinda funny))

This thread is comedy gold. Did the OP really change his avatar from wearing his watch to a bare wrist as he became more pissed off?
It is just as well he is the boss, because I don't think he got much work done this afternoon.

As a new member myself, I will henceforward show all cats extreme respect.

Good idea.

Not all cat haters, on here, are given diplomatic immunity…
