I realize the significance of this date but silly to have this auction on a NYC summer Friday at 2pm.
It’s the hottest weekend in years and many North Americans are heading out somewhere else.
The roads around here were jammed today.
Correct. Classically uncommercial. I missed it driving out.

Look out for the alpha WTB ad

We (here at OF) ought to have a line for those looking for any authentic, spare alpha hands.

If you don’t need any, you’re either not collecting any pre-105.003-63 watches or you’re really, really well off and only buying perfect.

What a result on the radial dial.😀

I just sent the results to my friend and told him it was time to upgrade the shoebox he keeps his Speedmaster in along with his other flown watches.

So 187K for a non-flown radial dial. I wonder how much I had strapped to my wrist with a 3 shuttle mission premium with all its lume on the chronograph hand still intact.

For me:

Highest price achieved will be Lot 20 (the most valuable 2915 with least probelems)

Greatest % over low estimate, Lot 3 (the only 2998-1 in the sale - an iconic ref)

2 lots unsold

Lot 10 (overploished back, poor plots, bezel queries, too much money)

Lot 43 (service dial)

Lot 43 sold at 12.5k (adding the premium around 15k)! 😲 I don't understand this result...

But for the hands, I’d agree with you.

Thats a pristine base 1000 bezel guys... That watch was a *steal*

I think Sotheby’s is happy with how it went. This was a bit of a test case to focus on Omega. With so much more experience with Rolex sports watches, it’s just harder to tell where these will end up.

I picked up that Mocha one, no 25. Seeing it live made a big difference to me.

Could it be that everyone who wanted to bid thought ‘aaaah, big Speedy auction, everyone will bid, thus I’ll not bid’ and thus no one bid? And now everyone is thinking ‘damn, bargains were had, why did I not bid’?

Quite varying results. Both golden Speedies did very well, 68.750 + 47.500

It’s that way. I sat in on three via phone. Cheapest one came first so I took it. I was soooo tempted to go for Ultraman. Oh well

A bargain i.m.o

$27.5k

THIS!!!

I also thought that the TIFFANY & CO double signed went for a "relative" reasonable price...
(Can't seem to manage to find a picture of the results, so will add pic later...)
