Somehow it seems like they missed the buyers on the other side of the world by holding it at 2pm instead of say 7pm so the asian buyers could step in...overall good results but doesnt everyone assume the estimate is about 1/2 of what it should hammer for on a "good" day at auction?
These are rare, and seeing some not sell is sort of mystifying to me. Not making them anymore...or is the new omega sales campaign messing with peples heads?
I think it was sad to see the ephemera like ashtrays go so low...some of those are rare

(Quote from the above link)
"Lot 47 105.012-65 24’952’506 $31,500....– A strong price for the reference,....... Its a good looking watch, but I wont be taking too much notice of the price for data purposes."

Hmmmp!.....🙁

Just get a box, go find Buzz.....try not to get punched while you pull out a sharpie and ask if he can give you $15k. I mean a signature.

As far as I can see he doesn’t even have to be sober when he does it

Hi William!
Regarding lot 39, what don’t you like about the hands?
Cheers, Michael

When I only have access to the catalog photos, I often list my worries or concerns expecting or hoping to have any worries removed. These hands are very hard to judge from this photo alone. So my worry is that they are not original fitment.

The slots do not match, the end of the hour is squarish and the other curved - so they could be modified service. Are they flat, or transverse curve? I cannot see from the photo.

So for me, as a buyer, I would either want to see hands that are obviously original, or if they have queries, I reduce my valuation until I can hold the watch and satisfy myself they are original.

So in this case I am less exited, than if I saw original, transverse curve, triangle lume hour hands that are obvious to me original.

Can anyone decide the originality of these hands from this photo? I cannot.

Aw now let’s not disrespect Buzz, especially today. Stone cold during launch with 88bpm! Astonishing. And punching out that denier at his age.... legend. (Yes his autographs are out there like confetti but why not?)

Good question. I went to the Sotheby’s NY reception on Wednesday for the space artifacts sale with a talk given by Apollo IX LMP Rusty Schweikart and he was up and down to the cape all week with functions including a lot of the Apollo crews incl Mike Collins. Great collection of artifacts by the way. Sale today. So many pages of the Apollo XI flight plan for sale. Slurp.

Sounds like a lot but then the resources they threw at it were extensive. Full time staff showing the pieces for the whole week, I doubt it was hugely profitable for them. Revenue around $200k or so?
