For me:

Highest price achieved will be Lot 20 (the most valuable 2915 with least probelems)

Greatest % over low estimate, Lot 3 (the only 2998-1 in the sale - an iconic ref)

2 lots unsold

Lot 10 (overploished back, poor plots, bezel queries, too much money)

Lot 43 (service dial)

I propose we ask for two predictions:

1. Which lot gets Highest price achieved
2. Which lot Largest percentage over low
estimate

Answers.
1. Lot 27
2. Lot 27

😀

Joking aside, did you see my watch William?
It feels odd not having it in the collection.
Cheers, Michael

And what about 13 and 49, the gold ones? Lot 10 will be sold far above 200.000 dollars, I think 260.000-275.000

That’s what I love about this - I say lot 10 won’t sell and you call it 30% over high estimate.

And just because one of us may be right (there is another option, a mid spread sale), doesn’t mean we would be right again.

Auctions are so unpredictable it’s all part of the fun

Come on where are more predictions?

Yes, I think that Omega is also involved in this auction, in one way or another, to raise the level of the speedmaster? Or is this a complete out of space idea!

For the guessing, I regret I didn't examine the 2915s a bit more critically. I feel a bit as though I am imposing in taking too much time at these viewings since I know I'm not going to be a bidder. I'm sure I shouldn't.

I also should have examined our members' watches outside of the display case.

As for the 2998s that I did look at, lot 3 will do well in the percentage over low race, I think, since it's a decent one with low estimates compared, for example, to lot 5 at Christies. Lot 39 could do very well except for the dial scratches. They don't show in the catalog and I don't know that the rest of the dial, bezel, caseback (scratched but crisp), and bracelet will make up for them for those who examine in person. I had forgotten about William's comments about the hands. They looked fine to me in person an in my photos, though again, I hadn't specifically thought to evaluate them. And when was the last 2998-2 at auction?

The auction high? I can't disagree with William, but where's the fun in that. I'll say lot 40.

Always surprised how often these auctions have technical difficulties. At least they recognized it early on and are trying to fix it...

How has it been working online for folks here? Audio only has been fine here. Lots don't appear to advance automatically and right column bids a bit slow to update. (iPad, Mac Safari and Chrome all pretty much the same.)

Phillips gets this the rightest. Flash though.

We don't want another Bukowski's debacle...

Good that Sotheby's is taking the time to fix the issues. 👍

"15min break" is going a little long. Good on them though to take the time to fix it and make it right so they can continue without issues.

They should postpone the auction until they get it all fixed - also the possibility to bid online. This error can influence the prices in a negative way for the seller

Most unfortunate, I was literally just about to ask if the delay was going to drive online bidders away....whelp, there we go.

I managed to register as the sale had already debuted...
