Hello friends, recently I bought a very beautiful 165.024, the dial is perfect, the bezel is good without cracking. However, I realised the sweeping hand has been repaired/repainted before. Intuitively, one of the options for me is to purchase an original sweeping hand, and then I found something very interesting, and I don't know whether this topic has been discussed before.

The center of my sweeping hand is flat:

While I found the modern replacement or service hand has a nipple, like this Watchco version:

This is not conclusive, because I still find some vintage 165.024s equipped with sweeping hands that have nipples and the hand is coherent with the overall condition of the watch.

So I want to hear more from the experts in the forum. Thank you!

I observe that starting at 24 mil serial #, Omega used "nipple" center second hands on some Seamaster models like 166.010 and 168.024 (chronometer).
I have a 165.024 with 26 mil serial and it has a nipple, too.

I did some quick online research. It seems that starting from 26 mil (around 1968), 165.024s start using nippled center second hands.

Interesting topic, I`ve never realize this difference before...thanx for that.
The change may go in one hand with the lume color change to more greenish lume in that period? Just an idea...
I can only confirm, that all 3 vintage SM300 I have now in my hands ale no-nipple (all 22-25 SN watch) and all luminova watchcos are nippled.
