We all thank @Spacefruit on a daily basis for his exhaustive work on Speedmaster101, and without his dedication and passion for Speedies, many of us would not have dipped our toes into the Moonwatch pool.

His relentless pursuit to nail down variations of dials, bezels, cases, hands, lume patina, movement serial ranges, etc. on known original examples allows collectors to educate themselves on the watches that they hope to buy or already own.

My goal with this thread is simple, for those collectors who wish to participate, please share your SM300s so that we can build up a repository of the known examples, and document the following:

    Case Reference
    Case Maker
    Year
    Movement Caliber
    Serial Range
    Bezel Type
    Hand Type
    Dial Type
    Bracelet Type
    Crown Type:

Hopefully we will be able to assemble a thread that showcases many of the variations that are present in our collective collection.

Nice thread, it could be interesting to add the dot (yes or no) on the 6/12 marker..

Several of the posters should correct their serial numbers, there are no 2,4xx,xxx or 2,5xx,xxx numbers. they should be 24,xxx,xxx or 25,xxx,xxx.

Thanks for catching that, I rarely X out my serials, but wanted to in this case that scammers could not steal pics and use them for auctions.

I think this is a good thread and resource to will help new buyers learn about this fantastic watch and possibly avoid scammers. You might want to include a link to the bezel thread and chart for easy identification of Seamaster 300 165024 and 166024 bezels:

Anyone with an SM300 extract with a serial near mine that could tell me if a 24.704.XXX would place my 165.024 in 1967 (or 1966) would be nice if it is 1967 my year of birth :)

SM300 serial 24.70x. were produced first half of '67 for sure and yours was most likely produced in february or march 1967. Last serial in 66 productions (december) were 24.22x

Some of the US versions, cal. 550, were produced a little bit earlier, even within same range, but yours is a cal. 552 if I remember correct.... so, definitely '67, Thomas ;-)
