Relume this 1944 Military Omega?

Hello,

I'm quite new to the vintage watch game, and have been reading a lot about redials & relumes, crown replacements etc that are considered as the taboos of the watch world.

Which brings me to this beauty.

It's a 1944 calibre 30SCT1. The dial has been refinished after the war (date unknown), the crown seems to be a replacement, but the hands are original according to the seller. I love wearing this watch in daylight but at night it's nearly unusable because of the faded big hand.

So my question is pretty straightforward: would it make sense to relume both hands (and perhaps even replace the crown with someone more era-fitting)? I've already contacted James Hyman, which would be my way to go, but I'm a bit worried the value will deteriorate if the watch keeps getting retouched.

Thanks a lot.

Given that the dial is no longer original, there are no risks at all in having James relume the hands sympathetically.

The bad news is that the refinished dial has already degraded the value significantly.

Well, given the fact the dial has been redone, I don't see any issues with having it relumed.

Go for it. It won't affect value anymore and I think it will look great with hands with matching lume 👍
