Wow! I have never heard of Smith's watches. That W10 is a fantastic looking watch.

British engineering firm Smiths stopped making watches in 1980, the end of Anglo-Celtic Watch Co. Ltd. and the modern day 1996 - 21st Century Smiths Timefactors is a totally different company!
A good online source:

W10 is a proper Smith military watch though. Issued in the late 1960s.

The Timefactors knockout is their ref PRS-29A

Thanks for the resource. I guess there was some finality, or at least intended finality, to Smith's when they went under. Googled it and discovered a story relating that Timex, buyer, went so far as to destroy Smith's production machinery. Sad. The resource page referenced above indicates they no longer sell or service overseas customers. Too bad. I wouldn't mind having a true English watch, military or otherwise.

Thanks for the additional information MWU and Budman.

Best,

Wayne

we're a bit off Omega topic but Smiths watches were plentiful and so are still widely repaired by independent watchmakers. If you look to buy one, you need to be cautious of size (many are small) and also get one that says "Made in England" on the dial. As a rule, the later ones say "Made in Great Britain" and are not of equal quality.
