I'm thinking there are many here that have messaged a seller to sell their watch directly to them.

Good to know. Must have not been my day. I'll have to try again on my next opportunity.

No indeed. Is that anywhere near a plausible price? Seems out of proportion to what I've seen for Geneves.

Not that far off - it is the much less common 36mm "jumbo" version in 18k rose gold with an original dial. It is also from the Geneve line in the 1950s when it was a premium watch - just below the constellation in terms of prominence. The reborn geneve line in the 1960s was more the econoline - these are both less attractive and far more plentiful and lower in value - with one exception the cal. 602 manual wind chronometer but that's another story entirely.

There's another identical one that was listed for $2800 (unless this is the same one just relisted at a lower price). I'd say it's only a few hundred more than I'd pay for it. I've got the stainless version of it with a NOS dial that's going to be coming to a WRUW thread near you soon. I'd certainly consider buying that, putting my NOS dial on it, and taking that dial for the stainless one to sell.

Yes Dennis., this is the same one. But this time there is no option to make an offer at the lower BIN

Yeah, I just checked the new listing against the old one and saw it was the same seller. He probably had a few offers in the $2000 range and threw it out just above that to see if anyone would bite. If I knew I could get $800 for my stainless version I'd probably make a play for this solid gold one, but knowing my former apathetic attitude towards manual wind Omegas (and Longines for that matter) I might grow tired of it quickly. For the record, I am warming to hand crankers from the era.

Friggin' nice looking watch though, ain't it?

The only thing that troubles me about it is the SWISS MADE. The words are evenly divided by the 12 - 6 crosshair. The last S in SWISS should be closer to the line than the M of MADE - they centered the phrase to the bottom of the dial, not the space between the words around the crosshair. Might be just the angle though.

Have seen it equally spaced like in this dial so I don't think that's a problem.

It's 36mm. It's rose gold. Mike says price is not that far off. Dennis agrees it's a friggin' nice watch. Ok, they're all excuses. I am just too weak. :( And with another one in the pipeline, I should be more disciplined.

As others have pointed out, that Geneve is a very uncommon version. I don't doubt the dial, but the case has been rather heavily polished (as evidenced by the lugs, which were originally faceted).

So you're saying you snagged it? Good! You made the seller an offer around $2000 during the listing at $2800 B.I.N. or best offer, didn't you?

Yeah I did it. The highest I offered was $1800 then. At least now I will stop checking out the listing everytime I logon to ebay.

We've always said if you really want it there's no harm in paying a little extra. Of course everybody wants a bargain, but that isn't always gonna happen. You're gonna like that watch on your wrist.
    Been there, done that. ;)
..... and still do it on occasion. :p
