Such a spectacular result from such a tough rebus is worth a galaxy! While tussling with that one, “fiddleheads” (a maritime Canada delicacy) went through my head. But I failed to put the two clues together. Well done @Syzygy and @Charlemagne1333 .
A Christmas gift to y’all, from me. See what ya kin do with it. The answer is not any one of the three people shown in the clues.
First thought is the Christmas carol "We Three Kings"...but Erika Olde is throwing me off...so... to the me thinks...
Wait...that could work, albeit a bit of a stretch. Olde's Alma Mater is Regent's University London. A Regent is a person appointed to administer a country because the monarch is a minor (or absent)...We Three Kings is in a minor-sounding Aeolian mode! Add that to "The King" and Nat King Cole and we get our Christmas gift! Still going to mull this over a bit more as I'm not confident I have it right just yet.
@Syzygy , it is not We Three Kings. Not a Christmas Carol. With two “kings” among the clues, I can see what you were thinking! It is more of a nursery rhyme I’m after. But you did well to identify Erica Olde! I’d never heard of her until I posted this rebus. I really thought this would be too easy, so that’s why I called t a gift!
Ahh...Old King Cole was a merry old soul and a merry old soul was he! This is so much fun, thank you @Canuck, @M'Bob, @Charlemagne1333, @JimInOz and any others posting these mental challenges!
I suspect the post by @Syzygy referring to ”scrambled eggs” might have helped you. But here’s a star for you, anyway.
I didn't realise he got there first - I wasn't sure what @Syzygy was talking about. Still, grateful for even a second prize!
small hint, but not to make it too easy, the hint will be a little vague as well. You've likely seen it on a screen.
