Do you guys have all of this insured, I can see most of you have them in cool watch boxes. Easy to take and walk out. You can fill a lunch box(old), with watches is not like stealing a tv or even a computer.

Yep - insurance is very cheap. Like $1 per month per $1K of coverage. Easy peace of mind.

Some insured, some not, however, the death strip around the house usually keeps out the vermin.

Does that include squirrels?

I have a really over-booked watchmaker, so at any given day I could have a few watches stored in his safe - for FREE. Just one strategy...

I put them on a rider on my home owners policy. $346/yr w valuation of $30k +/- , I included a database of serial numbers and photo documentation. $346 = $30/mo = less than a $1.00/day. Well worth the peace of mind.

The people I know that really understand security say that nothing is actually safe that isn't hidden.

No amount of locks and security will defeat a skilled thief that wants to take your stuff.

Just like the ancient Pharaohs of Egypt, the only thing that will stand the test of time is hidden treasure.

So, keep that in mind, when you are protecting your valuables from thieves.

True. When I leave for weekend or vacation I put the watch box at the bottom of our dirty laundry basket. 😲

I could easily see myself forgetting and dumping the laundry on the floor to be sorted.

Of course not, I wouldn't hurt adorable little squirrels...live and let live.
Those little bastards are always chewing on my house, my garden. If you want 'em, you can retrieve 'em from a bag I've thrown in the river.

Southern California squirrels are very laid back and cool, just hang out in the elm trees on the parkway, and never venture across the sidewalk onto the lawns. Would never consider chewing on a home or garden as they have a deep respect for nature and the built environment. Even look both ways before crossing the street... adorable.

I have a safe, hidden, and insurance and of course there is the house alarm, the moat and the two attack cats in the house who will... well, one will run away, but the other will hiss at you quite menacingly before hiding under the bed.

Probably best is that most of my neighbors are retired or work from home and so there are lots of eyeballs on the place.

Back in the old days when I had a Golden Retriever, I always suspected that she would amble over to the thief and give him a big wet lick on his face.
