200 posts does seem high to be honest. I signed up over a year ago and still haven't hit the mark.

You wouldn't be saying that if a quick fire 55 post member has just scammed you out of 5k though.

Depends on your engagement. The more you interact with the site the more you get out of it and the more folks get experience interacting with you. In my opinion the 200 post rule ensures that you have contribution history and buyer history and something to loose (your reputation) before you are allowed to sell. I've jumped into the hobby with both feet and this site has been invaluable with information, great connections with sellers, community and a laugh or three.

I've said this before, but it's worth remembering this is a discussion forum, that offers active, well known members a sales platform as well.

It's not a sales forum.

Obviously not everyone wants or has the time to be an active member. If that's the case, ebay is by the far the best option IMO. I know not everyone agrees, but I've sold literally hundreds of items on eBay and never had an issue that I couldnt resolve. The fees are a pain, but you're paying for the ability to advertise to a world wide audience with reasonable security.

As a new member with watches wanted to sell/buy, I don't mind the post count. I would be MUCH more comfortable buying from a user who has undergone the arduous journey of writing about watches and pressing reply 200 times. 😉

23 posts in just 4 days. You will hit 200 in no time. Looking forward to seeing what you have. Remember, you don't need 200 to buy.
BTW, very cool dog. 👍

Yup, been scouring the forum via WatchRecon for months. Finally took the plunge once I felt I could contribute instead of just leeching for sales. I've already shared a few in my earlier posts, but more will come as the collection grows. I'll shamelessly plug my eponymous IG haha.

Shiba or Akita?

I believe that it's more about the overall security and sentiment of the forum members here. No one likes to be scammed, and no one wants to be the scammer. Seasoned collectors have plenty of horror stories to share. So you have members like that being skeptical about you, especially as they may well have seen such a situation before, had a horrible experience and don't want it to happen again to themselves, as well as to protect others.

The limit is a general requirement. If you wish to sell something, provided you have feedback on other forums/the bay and can be vouched for, admins can be lenient and allow you to post on there. Let's be honest, 200 posts that are 'constructive' can be hard to do if you're just rushing for sales. There are plenty of other websites that don't have such a post restriction; whether the reputation of these is good or not depends. Remember, though, that sales on this forum are an optional feature. It is more about discussion - and discussion will generate those posts and experience which the site deems satisfactory to make a sale's thread.

As for me, I'd say eBay is quite easy to set up and get going to sell. They suggest templates, prices and auction types once they know what you're selling, and it is now mainly free (apart from additional extras and a ~3% take of your final sale price sans postage.) My 100% feedback is about 1 sale (which was a watch, incidentally) and the rest purchases. Would that have been enough for the admins to consider letting me sell my wares before I hit the 200 post mark here? I'm not sure, since I never posed the question.
Well said, and respect.

Ive sold a few via Craigslist. The most interesting one was to a guy in Canada who sent me PayPal site unseen.
