I love a PO to look at. However, I couldn’t own one because of the big arrow hands - they’re a little OTT for me, personally.

This is a gorgeous watch. Is it 40mm?

Thanks! No it‘s 42mm. But if you are comfortable with 40mm, 42mm should not be an issue.

Cheers,
Max

I don't need much of an excuse to recommend these.

Some people might not notice that yours is a Planet Ocean liquid metal limited edition (2500c movement) and they'll buy a PO online only to be disappointed in the aluminum bezel and mat dial. (PS: I discovered there are people named Matt Black and Matt Dial if you google the watch face wrong).

I wear the 45.5 in that generation. It does not wear as large as you think.

I much prefer the 2500 and 8500 generation POs (I don't care much for the "hash marks" on the newest generation. The first and 2nd generation POs are as perfect to a tool/dive watch you can get. But the LE liquid metal version is a stunner (if only it were 45mm!)

Here's my batch. I got the stainless models and titanium on bracelets but they spend a lot of time on straps.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but were there changes within the 2201.50 model?

I ask because I've seen some early 2005/2006 ones listed as being 13mm thick, then later versions listed at 14.5mm . Wondering if this is just an error or if there were minor updates during the first generation's lifespan.

No, all the 42mm 2500 PO stayed the same. But the movement was different later on, C to D. Case never changed, 14.5 from memory. There was a 45mm version though, but that was more.

So dumb question, can you tell which 2500 movement you have based on the serial number, or does the case back need to come off?

Yeah 2201.50 is my favorite.
Pretty sure James Bond wore the (edited l(45.5mm in casino Royale ) right?

Why is 2500d better than 2500c?

He wore 2201.50 in quantum of solace. I wouldn’t worry too much about the 2500c 2500d difference. It’s not that significant.

On the liquidmetal limited edition, are the accents the typical orange, or red? Pictures seem to suggest red, or at least a redder orange than other PO models.

One thing always bothered me about the Planet Ocean. Why an arrowhead on both hands? Pick one and stick with it!

OK. I think I have decided to go with the PO with a black bezel. Any recommended models?

Allan

I asked myself the same question. Since I find all variations of PO extremely cool, I started defining my personal needs first and then choose the best suitable version accordingly. In my case, reliable accuracy is a must due to my job, second is legibility, third is comfort and fourth is beauty. Once I was clear about all this, the actual selection was really simple: those variations with red inscription in the bezel are a true beauty, but beauty is prio 4, 39.5 mm is more comfortable than 43.5 mm, but comfort is prio 3 whereas legibility is prio 2. Besides, the 43.5 wears smaller than I thought, and the legibility is absolute superb!!! The two arrowheads have different colours, so the legibility is a pleasure. Here in Europe we have long and dark winters, so it does make a difference. My other daily watch is much lighter (16710), so originally I planned to wear it on nato, but after 5 months of praxis, I find the bracelet so well balanced and so comfortable, that am not going to change anything about it now. Now the caliber 8900 is, no doubt, a superb caliber, not as consistent as my GMT II (at least within the last 5 months), but it is amagnetic, which outbalances the lesser consistency in my job, where I am constantly exposed to all kinds of highly magnetic fields.

Summa summarum:

First generation with a pop of orange

My preferred model among the first generation! (2201.51.00 if not mistaken)
