Some people might not notice that yours is a Planet Ocean liquid metal limited edition (2500c movement) and they'll buy a PO online only to be disappointed in the aluminum bezel and mat dial. (PS: I discovered there are people named Matt Black and Matt Dial if you google the watch face wrong).

Well Larry matte dial and aluminum bezel is what I like! 馃榾 Had the titanium 42mm PO and the black 39.5 PO 8800 and disliked the shinny dial and ceramic insert ::facepalm1::

I鈥檓 partial to the 42mm titanium with the 8500 movement. Good value on the used market.

Hi,
when you say good value. What is the price on used Titanium? thank you.

They seem expensive on Chrono24 but I鈥檝e seen several on DavidSW.com for $4475. I think that鈥檚 the going rate that I鈥檝e seen on the watch I have.

Hi Allan, I'll share my input on the subject:

I've tried the 42mm 2500 (I had the Liquid Metal Limited Edition (LMLE), identical in proportions to the 2201), the 42mm Titanium, and the newest 43.5mm. The one that stayed is the 43.5mm.

I just absolutely loved the LMLE - I figured I had found the best of all 3 worlds. Unfortunately, there was just something about it that made it very uncomfortable - the edge of the lugs would dig into my wrist which made it very uncomfortable to wear. If I loosened it, it would slide all over like a wet eel and if I tightened it enough to stay put, it would cut off my circulation.

The 42mm Titanium was much more comfortable. Like a feather on the wrist and no digging in. The blue lacquer dial is the prettiest, IMHO. But it just felt disproportioned - too tall for its size which made it look small and awkward.

Finally came the 43.5mm and I could not be happier. It is hands-down the most comfortable watch I own. Yes, it's the biggest, tallest and heaviest one but it looks very well proportioned and did I mention comfortable? First time I put it on I thought I made a mistake because it did feel somewhat like a boat anchor but after a few hours, I all but forgot it was there. The bracelet does not slip around and overall it's just like hand-and-glove on my wrist. It's the watch I wear the most and it fits under the sleeve of almost all my shirts (I wear long sleeves Monday-Friday). It's one of my forever watches without a doubt.

They are all great watches but not all may be the right one for you. Your wrist size and shape are a big factor but the bottom line is that you're just going to have to try them on to decide for yourself which suits you best. What worked for me might not work for you but I'm trying to save you the money hemorrhage that I went through to find the right one.

Best of luck with choosing one and let us know what you end up getting.

[EDIT: I just noticed how old this thread is 馃榾馃檮馃槜馃榿]

I am circling the wagon on a GMT version. Not critical, but if I can do well on the transaction, I'd like one. Still, this is very nice. I put it on rubber for a change of pace. Most times it's on the bracelet.

I have the 8900 and think that bracelet and adjustable clasp are so good that you have to consider this model. Most POs are objectively big watches, but the bracelet of the 8900 balances out the watch so well that it is way more comfortable than you would expect. A little chunky for sure, but very reasonable to wear.

good luck!
