Point of process: some people mistakenly think the above emoji is a "looking up" emoji; it is not; it is the "eyeroll" emoji

I don't think that's the image they want to promote? Even though lots of drug dealers buy and aspire to buy Rollies. For example:

Okay, so by "can't" you mean "don't want to"...

BTW, pot is legalized in many entire countries (like here in Canada) and some of the biggest "dealers" are governments. The idea that this comes with some massive stigma is a little out of date to put it mildly...

as is the idea that Rolex is the brand of choice for the "flexing" gangster set.. that's very 1996

AP and PP are the new/reigning king of pop flex culture

Clearly, they want to hence the Palm Fronds. They just have to be covert about it. I don't know why you would argue the point since it's common sense that blue-chip brands like Rolex wouldn't tarnish it by associating themselves with illegal/stigmatized activities. Just like you won't see a porn dial anytime soon but you might see some eggplants and peaches.

So they "clearly" want to because "palm fronz r like so obviously pot man" but then again they don't want to because it would "tarnish" their blue chip brand status by doing what they "clearly" just did?

Have I got your "logic" right there?

Perfection! 😜 The palm fronds is a dog whistle to the pot people. When people like me call Rolex out on it, they will respond just as you have, "it has nothing to do with pot! how dare you suggest such a thing?" Plausible deniability.

Just like it was never the intention of Rolex to even suggest pot leaves on their dial. I think all the people who think that it's suggestive of pot are fantasizing. It's Palm fronds. Period. Covert? Ummm... no. Why go halfway?

I don't really see the cannabis connection. I also think it is just some kind of palm design. I can't imagine Rolex CEO's sitting round the table, toking on a fat dooby thinking this would be a good move.

As for the watch itself, it's not at the top of my must have list, but I kind of like the quirkiness of it, just not enough to buy one.

Dang Archer, I never said that...I did say that this is all speculation and you asked why I would think that Rolex wouldn't just use marijuana instead of palm fronds and I told you. That's all...

I just don't believe this is a coincidence that they would all of a sudden use a plant motif especially one that could easily be seen as pot without a second or third glance. As I said earlier, they could have just used a green dial like every other Maison since that's the going fashion. Why palm fronds? There are plenty of other tropical plants they could have used that wouldn't be mistaken for marijuana at a glance. Now you're insulting Rolex's product managers' intelligence if you think they didn't know that people would think it's a pot dial at a glance. I think they knew exactly what they were doing and what buyers they're looking to sell to.

It only looks like pot to people who have no idea what pot actually looks like. So I doubt the "drug dealer" crowd you refer to would be interested in something that only non-customers would think looks like their products.

Now I just think you don’t know what MJ even looks like
