How old is your watch? Not new, I would hope if it's rattling!

It's new, only a few months old. It's already been back to omega for a hand alignment issue.

Should I consider myself lucky that my all 3 Moonwatches are okay?!

Maybe very lucky.

Either that or your sense of hearing is fading. 😀

It is very subtle but definitely there. I've decided to go to the AD today to get it sent away again.

Just got it checked by my daughter. My sense of hearing is good! Thanks for letting me confirm my sense of hearing.

That’s better indicator of your luck sir. Having a daughter that is a diagnostic test for your hearing.

You are a great person, Sir. My daughter just confirmed that there was no rattling sound when she shook all my watches including the Speedmasters. Therefore, my assessment was correct indeed. What's your assessment about Speedmasters? Regards

I like speedmasters sir. I have 8. Fortunately for me, i havent heard the rattling sound OP is complainaning about. Or maybe my sense of hearing is fading.

I think the omega speedmaster has a fighting chance in the battle for best chronograph of all time. NASA at one point surely thought so.

Mine only seems to rattle in the back and forth direction from dial to caseback if that makes sense. Not side to side.

So after speaking to the watch technician at one of the boutiques, they told me this is normal for a speedmaster and also happens on the rolex milgauss. I did explain what Archer said about the movement being held to the enlargement ring which then presses against the antimagnetic disc that presses to the caseback. They told me the Faraday cage does not come into contact with the movement.
I don't know how much further this matter can be taken unless the watch stops working properly to prove this rattle is causing an issue.

It is not normal. When the case back is fully screwed down, there should be no rattle, and the case back should be putting pressure on the inner anti-magnetic cover (which is not a Faraday cage BTW), and that in turn presses on the enlargement ring (movement spacer). The movement spacer is screwed to the movement.

They are correct that the cover doesn't come in contact with the movement, but no one has said it does - I don't think they have a clue what they are talking about.

It boggles the mind that they are telling you this is normal. I'm guessing this is a "Boutique technician" rather than a "Boutique watchmaker"...

When did a rattle become ok for Omega? That's a tad disturbing.

I watch this thread with interest.
I just checked mine out of curiosity and it doesn't rattle in the slightest.

If mine did indeed rattle, then it would be straight off to Omega and I wouldn't accept it back unless it was fixed/silent.

I picked my manual moon watch up yesterday and noticed an obvious rattle. I’m going out of the country but seems like it’s not normal?

Got my speedy back from omega again. They provided no information other than they said they carried out a full service. The rattle is still present! I am so frustrated with their customer service. They now want me to send it back a further time even though I stated in my letter to them when sending that watch to investigate and sort the rattle issue.

I don't know what else to do.

That's very frustrating. I've had good experiences with the Regent Street OB, but for straightforward matters. Did you demonstrate the rattle with the tech(s) present?

Yes I did the first time I sent it back when I went to the Birmingham Boutique. The watchmaker onsite said it was completely normal.

This time contacted omega via email who promptly sent me an insured packed to send it to them in so I couldn't demonstrate the rattle. I did however explain what was happening in my letter.

Unfortunately due to the coronavirus their repairshop is now shut understandably so there's no telling when this problem will get sorted. Obviously this is out of Omegas hands at the moment.
