Dear Forum Friends!

The month of January is often very quiet regarding auction houses and Speedys…

So I was really happy when this watch came up for an auction!

It is an Omega Speedmaster Professional LCD, Ref nr. ST 186.0004,
and I have been looking for this watch for some time!
I have tried to read up/learn about this watch, and there were a lot of threads/posts here on the Forum.

So a big Thank You to all of you!!

Here are some links to useful stuff:

And thanks to @kov for his lovely website!

The condition of the watch is nice (for me!),
it has been serviced, and has had a light polish during the service.
No major damages/scratches, and the brushing on the sides are there...
The bezel does not have any cracks, only a few scratches.
The cal 1620 movement looks clean enough, maybe some dirt (or other stuff?) on the outer edges.
The gasket feels soft and nice.
The watch has all the functions working.

Erhhh.....Anybody got a manual for this one??:whistling:

This one does not have Swiss Made on the display, so it should be an early one.
It is smaller (36.5 mm) than the normal Speedy Pro, but in a good way - it fits nicely when I wear a suit/jacket.

The 1305.741 bracelet was a bonus, but I have put the watch on a natostrap.
I will wear it for sometime, and then a service (maybe?).

Cheers!

Great looking watch, occasionally see these pop up and think every time it would be a fun addition to any collection.

A Speedy certainly but I’d question the Moonwatch description in the title ;)

These were listing photos when I bought it. It since has been fitted with a black pig-skin strap from Atelier Romane that is very similar to the vintage straps that the NASA versions had. Another interesting thing about the watch - I'm in the U.S. and dropped it off with a Omega Boutique to send it to have the watch "serviced" (pushers, crystal, seals, battery replaced as there isn't much servicing to the circuit board). They sent it to the U.S. Service Center who then sent it to Bienne for this! I guess the U.S. repair facility didn't want to attempt it.

A dozen of these on "imperator" strap shipped to NASA on 29 November 1979 (Letter explaining " For NASA Shuttle pilots " dated 8 Nov 1979 )
However I've never seen a NASA photo of astronauts or test pilots wearing the Alaska IV 186.004 digital prototype

Nice, and with all the trimmings!
And the watch has been on a roadtrip, cool work there!

Congrats!

A little off topic here, but Casio just dropped this limited edition up for preorder yesterday and it quickly sold out (LE of 4,000 pieces). It’s based on their 1st digital watch. Seems very familiar to me.

Congratulations on your purchase! I picked up one NOS 2 years ago after a couple of months of research.. but didn't feel the sparkle once I got it so I sold it right away after a month only. I hope you can enjoy it more!
