    Evening all

There have been some wonderful Speedies shown off on the forum of late, many of us covet the mechanical Speedies either in pre or professional format and as we know values have rocketed and continue to climb.

As you all know I am a fan of the quirky Omegas and although I own quite a few 'traditional' pieces, including a smattering of Ed Whites and 2998's I am still a massive fan of the lesser known professional models. One of the most underrated IMHO is the 188.003, an LCD Speedmaster professional in a 'moon watch' style case.

The watches is really quite rare, it was made for 18 months from 1977 and unbeknown to many (which I've written a lot on) a handful where made for NASA shuttle missions without a light option (although still retaining the pusher) but with 'beta light' (tiritium cells behind the LCD so it as permanently illuminated)

It is still unclear how many of these were flown but widely accepted all where but really it was more of vanity project than a viable replacement for the moon watch, here is the original link from the post I wrote first time round, since then a pair of the flown ones sold at the Speedy50 auction for $43K.

Anyway, I recent got the opportunity to grab another one, just back from £500 service at STS and so I thought I would see if I could muster up a bit of a roll call for these special Speedy 'moon watch' design LCD's.

    Hi tom

    Ok I will play !

    IMG_3808.JPG IMG_3809.JPG
Finding the correct factory bracelet for the above was not easy and just did not have the same feel on a strap ....

And some projects I don't have time for ....

    IMG_5872.JPG

Both with Omega signed bracelets !!

    Good hunting

Okay, I will play, too :)

I've had a bias for those LCD Speedmasters from day one I've discovered them.

Same same... but soo different :D

(I confirm, that 'beta light' thing wasn't only a nice idea but it works!)

And an unworn square cased brother :

I really love them and wear the first one a lot. They look so geeky on the wrist

@Bill Sohne @Tom Dick What's the ref of that steel bracelet and end-links, please?

The above post could have been written by me word-for-word! :)

Although I've built up a small collection of 5 Omega LCDs - including a gold Speedmaster MD186.0010 - the Professional Speedy has somehow eluded my grasp thus far.

This kind of thread always makes me re-juggle the top few places of my wishlist!

They don't come up for sale that often, at least not for reasonable money. The MD 186.0010 is a nice watch but I imagine that if I bought one a nice speedmaster LCD would come up and I wouldn't have The funds to buy it.(Just my luck) The only led I have is this one, which was sorced with help from the OP, Tom. I wore twice while visiting the UK and was stopped twice by people wanting to get a better look.

I've physically seen this watch, I must admit I was much more impressed than I thought I would be. I personally don't feel the build quality is on par with the earlier omega speedmasters but as tom so extensively educated me (for over two hours) whilst not quite on a par size wise or in terms of overall quality, these moonwatch lcds are something quite special. In terms of design and build they were very on trend and of the period, alongside other LCD and LED models from other manufactuers.

Just when I thought I'd never want a digital display again... That first image in this thread is fantastic.
