Omega Flightmaster Trademark: What Happened to the Name?

Is there a reason Omega didn't name the recent Speedmaster Pilot as part of a reimagined Flightmaster line? I remember hearing a couple of years ago, apocryphally, that Omega couldn't use the 'Flightmaster' name anymore since it was sold to Seiko. However, I can find no such record of any such transfer, and at least on the US side of things, it seems a private person has recently applied for ownership of the 'Flightmaster' trademark, and the mark itself isn't owned by Omega (at least in the US).


If anyone more knowledgeable on the topic could say a word or two to satisfy my curiosity, that would be great!

Maybe this is just me being inexperienced with Seiko, but perhaps my initial question is due to my ignorance with Seiko's naming practices. I know of the Speedtimer, but not a Speedmaster. Although if Seiko were to ever move on from using the Speedtimer name in their marketing materials, there would be nothing on the watches themselves to note them as a Speedtimer, since it's not printed there (at least as far as I know). Did the same thing happen with their quartz Flightmaster?

At a Moment the Z33 watch prototypes where having dials with Flightmaster in Red marvelleous dial but at the end Spacemaster, i think was an error as the Z33 is really a pilot watch and deserve the flightmaster name.
