Cheers ForumFolks!

Looking at a Submariner (taking a pause from Speedys..), and its really beaten up....

But trying to learn...😉

The dial has a lot of darker areas (if you can see past the scratched glass..),
not the normal spider/tropical/star or what they are called nowadays?
And I wonder how this could have happened?
I haven't found any other images/notes on the web regarding this.
The dial should be a gilt dial?
Meters first, and the fonts etc look ok.
The serial nr is 1.16 mil, so it should be correct, and the caseback is stamped 111.64.

Looking further, everything feels original to the watch, (not the bracelet) please do correct me if Im in deep waters....?

What are your thoughts on this one??🤔

I have no helpful information but if you are getting into these watches here is a decent book that may help you.

You may get some answers if you posted somewhere besides the vintage Omega board. Somewhere like, oh I don't know, maybe the Rolex Sub Forum. https://omegaforums.net/forums/rolex-watches-forum/

Watch looks legit at first glance, but in pretty poor condition overall, damaged dial, overpolished crown guards, terrible rotor rub.

That crystal makes any kind of assessment of the dial virtually impossible.

I know, its kinda awful, but I still am curious about it?
Parts feels correct, but how can a person treat a watch like this?

But a nice book to read!

It has an extensive amount of information on everything from at least the 50s to the 70s. (If I recall correctly). It even tells you which bracelet, crown, insert etc goes with a watch. No pretty pictures. All business.

Sweet!
Pictures in books are for coffee tables anyway!😎
I found the book here in Sweden! And for 55€/60USD!

So the order is sent!

Thanks again!

Erhmm.. Gents!
The auction ended now for this piece, and PLENTY of bids!😲

And it landed 12700 € + premium of 27%.

So I don't know what to think about this one? Dealers who will refurbish it to top condition??

Well... It might pop up here in Europe??

Cheers, and have a lovely week-end!
