Well, there is a target group called Young Urban Professionals or the X-Generation with loads of money and a graving for bling and sports-look. So traditional "replica" version of vintage models might not work that well on all target groups. Last year some great, sophisticated masterpieces, this year target on more sporty and younger designs.
And I love the orange PloProfs and Seamasters.....
I'm looking at mine... I just love the applied metal numerals... Now if I could just get those hands and install them on mine. I just feel the Lumed numerals make it a little too precious. But I'll still check it out as soon as it hits the store
I think that demographic would normally buy Tag, loud Breitling designs and Hublot.
Omega has to preserve their brand identity...classy designs with technological innovation.
If Basel 2016 is the direction they are going, they will lose many loyal repeat customers...including moi, mon ami. Cheers
But they still do have the classy designs with tech innovations. They are merely adding to the assortment a new more fresh look. And hey, I´m 52 years and I really do like the orange accents on the Seamaster for example. Does every watch have to be a new version of Speedy () or a clone of the past ´50ies models? Look around, all classic brands are looking for new markets as we old farts ain´t gettin´any younger☕.
But, I do understand your concern. You must respect your traditions so you have to be really, really carefull when freshing up your line-up.
What are we looking at?
Five different versions of the new moon phase?
Black, blue and what else?
That's not just a swing and a miss, that's nasty slider that the hitter decides to swing at too late and nearly falls over in total embarrassment.
This watch isn't even the over the top "Leopard" Daytona bad, it just looks incredibly cheap. When I first saw this photo the first thing that crossed my mind was "very bad knock off watch" but unfortunately it's real I guess.
Black, blue, Brown (TT), Whitish (YG), and a silver dial - yellow gold with green bezel...
and of course Sedna..
I've been holding off on the 9300 orange gold, in anticipation of the Sedna moonphase... I hope the Chunkiness doesn't push it too much into Planet Ocean territory...
As much as I love moonphase, and a new certification...it's hard to argue with the simplicity of this...
LOL...your swing and miss reminds me of the late departed Jeff Healey joking around on stage in London trying to do a "Jimi" and bash his guitar on a chair with assistance of his roadie crew.
I can't get why everyone is raving around Explorer.
Omega put this up on Instagram about an hour ago. They say they are releasing six new calibres [presumably all Master Chronometer].
These are the examples I can think of:
* No-date [platinum Globemaster]
* Date only [non-platinum Globemaster, Planet Ocean]
* Date + GMT [Planet Ocean]
* Date + Annual Calendar [funky Globemaster]
* Date + Chronograph [Grey Side with meteorite dial]
* Date (on sub-dial) + Chronograph + Moon phase [Blue Moon, Blood Moon, etc.]
Addendum: If there is a date wheel lurking behind the dial of the platinum Globemaster, then maybe the sixth new calibre is a smaller-diameter calibre for the Chocolate Planet Ocean?
