I have to disagree, and as evidence I submit a better lit photo (disclaimer: not mine) as yours obscures a good amount due to the dark background. And I won't even compare a ringer like the ghost bezel tritium dial piece in your pic, but just a lowly last-gen Sub.
rolex-submariner-boca-raton-5.jpg

As @Archer said, the transition from lugs to bracelet on the 116610 is insanely awkward. Also, the "maxi dial" looks overstuffed with the large markers along with the cyclops date, the ceramic bezel is too thick for the case width and finally the crown guards looks like the roided-up neck of a Muscle Beach goon who skipped leg day.
But that's just my observations and opinions, which are rarely deemed of any consequence. If you love your new Sub wear it with pride.

This is why I went for a Black Bay Red instead of a SubC no-date. Personally, I love the ceramic bezel, but I love the old sub's propertions better. With my GMT II BLNR, the PCL seem to break up the look of the fatter lugs and make them not stand out as much, but the proportions of my GMT II Coke bezel'd watch are still better.

Larry, it seems like you've got quite a large collection of fine watches. How about posting a photo of the entire collection?

One of these days. It would take a lot of work to get them all together, but I would like to try someday.

@larryganz I 100% agree with your opinion on the proportions of the SubC no-date vs Tudor Black Bay + the GMT II Coke bezel vs modern GMT 2 Ceramic...I assume you own a 16710...could you tell me where you purchased it, what model / year it is and how much you paid for it? Thanks!

Actually @taz101 I would not read too much into it...

I would say Basel 2013 (AT 15000 Gauss + Speedy DSOTM), Basel 2014 (Tresor, Seamaster 300MC, Speedy XI-45, Speedy GSOTM, Speedy MKII) and Basel 2015 (Globemaster, Speedy 57 Broad Arrow, Speedy Snoopy) were years when Omega outperformed a rather "boring" Rolex overall (I think the BLNR and new 3255 Day Date were the only watches that really stood out during that period).
2013, 2015 I see as victories on points for Omega, but 2014 was a knockout punch from Omega in the first round:whipped:😀

Basel 2016 is the first year in a long time that I see Rolex as having a clearly stronger show, essentially because of two factors:

1. Perfect execution of the new Daytona SS and Rolex Explorer 1.
2. Omega opted to reach out a new demographic and produced some over designed kitsch watches that confused its current market base.

So from my POV, since 2013 the Basel score would be OMEGA 03 X ROLEX 01😉

The only modern Rolex watch I am considering purchasing in the near future is the new 2016 Rolex Explorer 1. I will still favour the Omega DSOTM over the new Daytona and it will probably be my second new watch purchase before or after the 2016 Explorer 1 (depending on the release to distribution date of the Explorer 1). Cheers.

Well I dont put up scores of OMEGA vs ROLEX as i've owned both and the Rolex build quality is far superior to the Omegas so have a big wink back at you 😉

I think it speaks volumes that Rolex dont even care they lost the 'bond' thing, they simply let their product so the talking where it matters where Omega knock out 89 different 'Moon' watches and so called 'limited edition' runs of Bond watches limited to just 15007 pieces haha. The latest thing this year is just..hideous.

Oh dear @taz101...I do not want to get into an immature wink contest with you, but I actually do own a Polar Rolex Explorer 2...which I adore and I am in "photo love" with the new 2016 Rolex Explorer 1. I do not agree on the build quality of Rolex being superior to the newer Omegas, at least based on my current collection (BTW I don´t know what Omegas you own or have owned)...pictures below:

😀Cheers!

Well I did not actually use a 😉 in my second/reply post, dear boy, but I suppose you interpreted it that way. Still good to know I managed to provide a wee chuckle for you😀...so much negative news around in the last couple of weeks.🙁

BTW in the Rolex versus Omega comparison...Omega still has not been able to execute a better GMT watch than the 16710:

+ Tudor has been doing some very interesting stuff with the Black Bay variants as well. Just thought I would throw those comments in before you started thinking I might be an "Omega Fan Boy". Cheers😀

That was just my first "innocent" wink, old bean, when the world was young and fresh, cute bunnies frolicked in the grass, Heidi would be at play on the Swiss Alps ....before your "big wink" came charging down, terrifying young farmyard animals and babies et al.😀

There's no such thing as an innocent wink my old arabica coffee bean. Winks are condescending, smirky and 'told you so'. Direct your innocent winks at your partner and use a 😀 next time.

Really? I thought wink was just a wink...I actually quite enjoy it when I receive a wink from a lively, fun girl (which I am not I suppose)...but noted, rest assured, I will judiciously avoid winks for you @taz101 in the future, sending lots of positive vibes out to you and your Rollies / Rolly Pollies😀😀😀😀😀😀

Dude, relax a little. I really don't think @Riviera Paradise or anyone else really cares about all this wink thing. Enjoy the forum but please don't be a troll

When I read your posts, I think the best watches for you are not Rolex or Omega but....

I know that Taz, I'm not saying you're a troll but you're certainly trolling this thread with the whole wink fight. I don't know if you mean to but from the outside at least it looks like you're picking up a fight rather than just discussing anything.

Besides @Riviera Paradise is from Brazil, a wink there is like a genetic twitch.

Anyway, certainly don't mean to start a fight to end a fight, just saying how it reads, nothing other than that Intended.

Aaaaand back to watches.... 😉

I posted this in another thread, but this is my favorite Baselworld offering from this year. Oris nailed it in my opinion.
