There’s a big issue that a couple have flirted with but no ones flagged properly yet.

The "CB" case back?

I'm waiting for the correct answers to know how much I should offer to the seller to by that beautiful (almost) original watch 😁

Case back? Arrangement and size of stars? & 14900 is a well known fake (from my research on the ref?

Bad caseback with bad stars. Poor inside perlage. Fake case with crappy facets, the under lugs should not be faceted, the top ones give it away.
Date ring is wrong, I've never seen a black one in such a watch.
Wrong but geniune Omega movement. Shouldn't chronometers say that they are adjusted to 5 positions? Definitely not a movement for such a watch. I think it does but the bridge has been swapped from a non chronometer?
My guess is that this watch was put together with a fake case and caseback but there are some genuine parts(movement, hands and date surround)
I loved this. This is a whole other level of interactive collecting, thank you very much X350 XJR!
Edit: Forgot about crappy reprinted redial. Font gives it away in top text. Probably original onyx markers(judging by hands) that have been lumed.

Well I failed this test, or got a C+ at best.
I’ve been studying up on my Speedy’s and SM 300’s so of course the pop quiz was on Constellation! Feels like university all over again....
Really though, thank you for the quiz, it does help.

Thank you for posting @X350 XJR This type of thread will hopefully be very informative to us lesser qualified to spot the differences between a good'un and a bad'un! I have actually spent a bit of time studying this so hopefully when you update I can learn something, rightly or wrongly 😀

Fake and Franken?

Fake case and caseback - from the pics I dont see any faceting which would indicate they are fake
Dial I would say fake but not 100% sure but it does look totally wrong in the case. At 4-5 it looks very low in the case but very high at 10-11... No Onyx on hour markers. 'OMEGA' looks wrong. So partial radial??
Wrong hands - second hand past the minute track, hour hand looks long as well? Hour hand??
Wrong date wheel
CB says 14900 which would be a 561 movement? 26 million would be 1968? so it should be a 167.005 which means it should be a 564 movement?

Can't wait to see what actually is wrong with it 😀

you were doing so well but tripped over your own feet right at the end as it were, so fixed it for you.
( but you’re right that a date movt would be 561/564)

late to the party....
hands look wrong
date in black?
Caseback looks to be cheap metal chrome plated, can see wear. Observatory looks weak. Inside looks to be laser engraved/etched
Rotorbridge ha been swapped out.
Crown sticks out too far on backside.

Thank you, feeling rather proud of myself right now but I'm sure I've missed somethings as I've now read others comments.

Everyday is a school day.

Isn't a 14900 a non date model?
Besides what others have mentioned on the dial.
The case back is fake. Looking at the movement closely, something seems weird, it doesn't look like a normal 565 movement. Some of the parts in the movement was changed, the wheel date? Sorry, I am still very poor with movement.
My take for this watch is, it is not even a Franken, it is a fake.
Like what others said, RUN AWAY FAST and avoid the seller.

Thank you for your time in posting this up

I see one more troubling piece that no one called out. Let see if anyone finds it.

Pic 1, 2, 3, or 4?

This really should be "Find the n mistakes", then we know when we are done.

A clever way to ask for a hint, It's on picture number 4.

So far:
Wrong movement
Crown wheel screw looks wrong
Rotor bridge incorrect for movement, but is a chronometer bridge (i think it would say adjusted 5 positions under rotor)
Back of lugs look to have wrong facets

I would add, incorrect Lyre?

Good job, but not one of the items above are mine. Keep trying you are getting close. What part do you call "Lyre"?
