No love for the SM300?

Has anyone serviced the SM300 yet? Wondering if the master co-axial status makes it a slightly trickier/expensive service.

Price from Omega will be the same as any other watch of the same type.

Thanks Archer. From a watchmakers perspective are these movements more or less challenging or interesting than a standard movement?

Certainly a co-axial escapement takes knowledge and skill that's specific to that escapement, but otherwise not really.

Picked up this beauty at OB yesterday. I asked in July if they maybe still can get one, since I saw many on Chrono24 labeled as ‘new from 2019’. They said they don’t have it, but they will ask in Headquarters in Switzerland and Bingo ::psy:: In reality even more beautiful than on photos. Very comfy with bracelet on my size (17cm) weighting 149g. Number 19XX/3557.

Congrats! I've haven't seen any of these at OB. But, I've seen about a dozen throughout the US at ADs. I finally threw in the white towel and pulled the trigger exactly 3 weeks ago. There's one left in the Boston area at an AD.

So... bracelet or leather on the SM300mc? I already have the FOIS on a 1125 so I was thinking leather to complement the lume but also to differentiate between watches with a black bezel on a metal bracelet. Is the leather a different shade on the 300 than that of the FOIS? But is is a flat link bracelet too good to pass on? (I know some people aren’t a fan of the polished centre links). Questions, questions... 👎

Perhaps a Tropic?

Good suggestion though I quite like the style of strap the FOIS and SM come with as standard tbh - can be worn dressy and casual, best of both worlds.

Forgot to mention - never been a fan of a Nato. Never understood the fascination 😀

I have both the FOIS and the 300MC, and I agree they are a perfect pair. I bought the 300MC on a strap because I think it looks amazing with the tan Barenia strap it comes on. Although I managed to snag one of the Spectre bracelets in a trade with someone who preferred the NATO, I wear it most often on the strap or a NATO (currently wearing it on the Orange/Black NATO pictures in an earlier post). The 300MC strap
is a tan color, and although it has darkened over time, it is still a lighter shade than the chocolate brown FOIS strap.

Here’s a pic from when I first bought it. Sorry for the orientation — the forum program has started rotating all photos I upload, and I haven’t figure out how to fix!

I love the Seamaster 300MC. IMHO, I think Omega did a great modern interpretation on the original. I was close to pulling the trigger, until the Trilogy Seamaster 300 was unveiled:

However, I also have the SMPc:

I’d always liked the idea of the 300 but never tried it on as it looks like the lugs are longer than the 300 diver (which I now own). Is that correct?

Thanks @Donn Chambers for your reply. I think we’re both in the same mindset. I’m leaning towards the leather strap on the SM as, like I said before, differentiates between the FOIS on a bracelet - it’s just the fomo with the flat links that plays in the back of my mind. It’s a shame the leather isn’t slightly darker but then that’s just personal preference.

PS - your SM300mc is looking great!

the leather on the strap will darken considerably within 6 months of wearing, so if you want it “slightly darker” you won’t have to wait long.

I rarely regret anything I've offloaded over the years, but this is definitely one of them.

That is one EPIC picture of the 300MC. I was wondering what clearance there is between the stock springbars and the case? I have a few fairly thick straps that would probably look good on mine (due to arrive in a couple of weeks). Other watches don’t have much clearance but I reckon the MC’s lugs are quite long. Thoughts, anyone? Grateful for advice and metrics!

Got mine in 2016 from my wife.

Absolutely LOVE it! It’s perfect on either bracelet, leather (how mine was born- and I have both the tan, and black, the latter of which I wore at our wedding) or Omega nato which is how I wear it daily.

The Omega NATO is super high quality and comfortable. I cut the extra keeper piece off it, making the watch sit even lower. It doesn’t seem to wear “tall or thick” to me at all. It’s a diver, ain’t supposed to fit like a dress watch.

Overall a fantastic piece.

Superb black & white shot! I did the same with my Omega NATO strap... largely because the metal box on that extra keeper part of Omega's NATO straps isn't shielded by the strap, so the sharp metal chewed into my wrist.

I think tan leather is a match made in heaven for the both the SM 300 and the 60th anniversary. Harmonizing the aged lume on the dial.
