Happy New Year Omega fans and friends!!
I'm intrigued by some of the less-common Seamaster divers such as the Seamaster 60 and Seamaster 120 varieties...
I particularly like the looks of the Seamaster 120 166.088, but I'm noticing they're not very popular.

There are NONE currently on ebay and only a handful of them listed on Chrono24.
Youtuber TGV reviewed one some years ago on his Urban Gentry channel but eventually sold it siting some mechanical issues with the 1000 series movement (cal 1002 in this case).
From what little I know thus far, I see these as pros of the 166.088:
-good looks: cushion case with a nice compact height:
-very legible: I love that handset common to the Admiralty models, good dial markers, nice dial design
-great size: 39mm with a 20mm lug width, yes please!
-cool bezel: nice grippy 60-click bezel: yeah!, those are a welcome alternative to the more typical 120 click bezels.

Here are some of the cons of the 166.088 that I see:
-Series 1000 movement: certainly not one of the "glory year" movement series. I have a feeling that some of the disadvantages don't stop with the "cheaper-looking" movement components.
-spider dials: it's very common for aging gloss dials to get this controversial cracking on the surface and I always prefer a matte dial.
-short lugs: requiring a very specific endpiece with fitting to bracelets, and some straps might not unless using a curved spring bar.
-Mineral crystal: neither scratch resistance, not shatter resistant: the worst of both worlds.

Does anyone have any more information or experiences they are willing to share?? I warmly invite you to dissuade or recommend I shop for one of these!

Also: WRIST SHOTS ARE DEFINITELY WELCOME!!!---PLEASE!!!!

I think I sold mine about 4 years ago, but thinking about it now - it really was a lovely thing. I think I didn't get on with the cushion case, and struggled to get a bracelet to fit it. Had a lot of character though - the blue seconds hand was a great touch.

A lot of times I was at the point of buying one. But in the end I think shape of the case was holding me back. But it's a great watch.

This reference used to be pretty high on my wishlist, and I think I would still pick one up if I one popped up in decent condition and was priced reasonably. A lot of examples seem to have lived hard lives and have damaged bezels and / or dials.

Would this be the correct hands?

definitely not. Black on black is not very legible even when diving to 100m. The correct hands are pictured in the first 2 posts. ..Although I love the compatibility with the sword hands and the PloProf hands....good to know!

What I don’t really like of the .088, and always prevented me to buy one, is the dial. In particular the applied metal indices.

I love each and everyone of the Seamaster 120 series, specially the automatic ones. Here is mine with a rare uncrackeled dial w/ mint markers and hands and the american market bracelet.
