I have a year to my 40 and I would like to buy a watch ( not necessary New one) which i would like to have many years. After a years in watch world and I tried many pieces Through last 10y still i am in same mindset as in the begining..so i dont know.. definitely mechanical/automatic,Wr min 50m, ... interesting piece

i have a few piece of omega’s(Classic speedy moonwatch, Old bond seamaster in blue, Black gmt seamaster and PO like Jeremy)..

8y ago i tried in Swiss the LE Apollo xvii with engraved dial .. my wife call them Apollon.. and front that time i have it in my head...
And also speedy with aventurine dial.. both are quite far and not EDC watch.. but what am I choose for year lasting and future possibility?
Or go by another way and choose other brand?
Or Speedy moonphase or ...speedy 35 anniversary i know i am on Omega forum but this Breitling is also super ... So many models.. 🙁

Budget is about 5000£

(both Omega pics Thanks to google), Breitling pic is mine

Well out of those two options the adventurine would win all day long. The apollo 17 is difficult to read and, atleast in pictures, plain ugly. (Each to their own and all that)
There are so many options so if I were you, between now and your 40th try to see as many possibilities in the flesh. My experience is that a watch will stick in your mind and that is the one you will go for.

Watches are like women, when you see 'the one' you just know.

I agree with lillatroll. I own one and it is a special timepiece. I have a small collection of watches I wear and the aventurine gets more attention than all of them. I think it is because you just don't see them often.

you’re right .. but i haven’t seen the right one..

i had two watches in my head through these years... Rolex hulk but there is not worth the money for me and this “apollon” which is ugly like you can find in almost every articles.

So do you have an idea what piece?

Well if it was me and I wanted a speedmaster then I would probably opt for a used 60th anniversary. It's as close to a 2998 as I will ever be able to afford and I think its just about in your price range used. Other than that maybe a mark 2 re edition. With speedmaster there is too many to choose from and when you think you have chosen one another one joins the list. It's a slippery slope.
